Chapter Seven September 1998 They’d first met when they transferred to the same sixth form college when they were both sixteen – their respective families had both relocated into the same area. They were studying completely different subjects, of course. Greg was focusing on technology and computer science; Gemma on politics and economics. But they were both strangers in the school and long-established social groups had already been formed amongst the other kids. So they found themselves together at a lunch table one day and just seemed to like each other. Greg had never had a problem picking up girls; he knew he was reasonably good looking but he also seemed to be able to put girls at their ease and make them laugh.
