Chapter Seventeen
Early Summer 1998
When Gemma had announced to her friends that she had to move away because of her Dad’s new job, Liz had made the first move. They’d been friends – really good friends for years. So when Liz kissed Gemma it was a bit of a surprise – a rushed embrace in the school corridor; making sure nobody saw. Gemma was shocked at first; embarrassed; even a little bit afraid. She scampered away in shame; but then she realized she couldn’t stop thinking of Liz. The feel of her lips; so soft; and the taste of mints on her breath.
