Chapter 2: Different Man

Scarlet's P.O.V

After he apologised, Zach started to ask me questions about university and my friends. "So, is Poppy still dating that loser Josh?" He said with a slight smirk on his face.

"So, I reject you like ten minutes ago and now you move on to my cousin." I said amused.

"You know me, have to play the field." He said winking. 

I laughed and noticed how his fingers slowly traced up my arm. I knew he was trying to see how close he could get to me but my loyalty was with Noah. 

I was about to tell him to stop, when I saw Zach getting punched in the face, falling of his chair. I screamed in shock and looked to my side to see Noah, with a livid expression on his face. 

He made no effort to look in my direction and kept his eyes fixed firmly on Zach. Noah picked Zach up again, before punching him in the face again. 

Zach got up and wiped the blood off his lip. He walked up to Noah and threw a punch. They fell on the floor and started to roll around beating each other up. 

A crowd gathered around egging them on and blocking me from being able to stop them. 

Not like they would listen anyway. They were stubborn arses. I searched around frantically, looking for Poppy and Josh. 

I knew that if I got into the middle of the fight, Noah would take it as me defending Zach and we would get into an even bigger fight.

Two bulky bodyguards pushed through the crowd and grabbed Noah and Zach, separating the two. They then walked outside still holding them by their collars. 

I saw Josh approaching me with a confused look. "What the f**k happened?" He asked. I saw Poppy clinging on his arm looking completely pissed and I ran my hands through my hair. 

"I don't know, it was all a blur. One minute me and Zach are talking and the next Noah is punching him and they're fighting on the floor." I say in a hurried tone, as I want to go outside to prevent the two from murdering each other. 

I know from the experience how much they hate each other. When me and Zach were dating, Noah tried numerous times to ask me out even though I had a boyfriend. 

Any chance he had he would always try to get me alone and he didn't care about the fact I had a boyfriend. Noah and Zach always clashed, although they only ever physically fought once.

I remembered it so clearly. I never saw Zach so violent before. 

I was walking to history when I was pushed into the janitors closet. I started to squirm in the grip of my captor until I realised that it was Noah. "What the hell do you think you're doing Noah?" I whispered harshly, not wanting anyone to walk in and get the wrong impression. 

"Showing you what your missing." He said, before crushing our lips together. I tried to push him away but he pinned my arms above my head. 

I'll always remember the feeling I got during that kiss. I never felt it with Zach and that's the moment I knew that me and Noah had something special. 

The kiss was interrupted by the door opening and Zach stood there rage burning in his eyes. 

I was pulled away from Noah, much to his dismay, and their fight was so violent it ended in them both getting suspended and Zach being hospitalised with a broken arm and minor concussion.

"Holy s**t. Are you all right dealing with that? I need to get her home. She had too much to drink." He says whilst trying to keep Poppy from collapsing to the floor. 

"Yeah I'm fine just get her home safe, kay." He nodded and left with a now passed out Poppy in his arms. 

I drank my entire drink in one gulp, knowing I would need it to deal with the two of them. I walked outside and look around trying to find them. 

I heard some noises coming from the alley behind the club. I followed the sounds and found the two of them wrestling on the floor. 

These two just don't know when to give up do they?

I sighed and ran up to them trying to pull a raging Noah off Zach, who was nearly unconscious. 

"Noah! Stop please you'll kill him." I begged. Clearly I wasn't getting through to him though since he just ignored my requests and continued to brutally beat Zach.

"Baby, if you do this then think of me okay. What will happen when you go to prison? I'll be all alone and you won't be able to protect me. I would be so scared and I couldn't handle it if you went to prison baby. You know that. I need you." I whispered, trying a different approach. 

He stopped what he was doing and slowly walked away leaving a bleeding Zach on the floor. I grabbed onto Noah's hand and pulled him further back. Once I was sure that Zach was safe from Noah's reach, I ran to Zach and called an ambulance. 

His face was covered in so much blood I could hardly recognise him and he was barely conscious. His left eye was swollen shut and there was blood seeping out of his mouth. 

"Zach, Zach you have to stay awake okay." He just groaned in response. I knew that I was losing him and he slowly drifting off into a state of unconsciousness. 

"Noah," I said as I turned around but no-one was there. 

I know what he must have thought when I ran to help Zach, but if Zach dies and Noah goes to prison I don't know how I would live with myself. It would have been my fault. 

I knew how much Noah hates Zack and even if I was just talking to Zack, Noah wouldn't have took it like that. I pulled out of my phone and quickly called 999. 

I was in such a hurry to find Noah that I had to repeat my situation to the operator twice. When I had finished I tried to call Noah but like expected it when straight to voicemail. 

I could hear sirens approaching us and saw blue flashing lights pull up in front of alley. Two paramedics rushed to help Zach and I step back to let them do their job. 

"Miss, do you want to accompany your boyfriend to the hospital?" One of the paramedics ask. I shook my head instantly "He's not my boyfriend, just my friend." 

I knew that Zach was in safe hands now and there would be nothing I could do to help him, but Noah was unpredictable and with the state he was in now that he could do something dangerous. 

I watched as the ambulance drove off. I knew there was a fat chance that Noah left the car so I hailed a cab and went to Noah's apartment. 

I slammed the door of my apartment shut and threw my keys onto the table. My head was banging and I was in deep need of sleep. I had spent hours searching for Noah. 

He wasn't at his apartment, Josh's, the park, and I scratched practically all the bars and clubs within a fifteen mile radius.

I took of my heels and walked over to couch, falling down on it. "Argh." A deep voice screamed and I quickly turned on the lamp beside me. Noah lay on my coach and the harsh scent of alcohol burnt my nose. 

I stood up and shouted at him "Noah, What the f**k? Do you know how long I've been searching for you? Can't you answer your phone or the fifty messages I sent you?" Burning rage hissed through my body.

Even though I had pissed him off helping Zach, it didn't give him the right to just leave me all alone and ignore me completely.

He got to his feet, towering over me and look down into my eyes. "No, I f*****g can't. Not when I know that you're playing nurse to that f*****g asshole you protected." He's slurred slightly. 

I knew I shouldn't push him when he's like this, so I just walked past him and headed towards my bedroom. He grabbed my arm though and pulled me too him harshly. 

"Noah, what are you doing? Let go of me." His grip just became tighter though and his eyes were narrowed and cold. I couldn't see a hint of forgiveness in them. I expected him to be grovelling and begging for me to forgive him. Instead he was hurting me.

"You don't know when to stop being a stupid w***e, do you?" I pulled to get out of his grip but it was no use.

"Noah get the f**k off me. You're drunk!" I screamed in his face. It seemed to make him more furious and he pulled me even closer, if possible. 

Everything happened in a blur. 

One minute I was trapped in his arms and the next I was sprawled on the floor, my cheek stinging with pain. Tears blurred my vision and I look up at him in disbelief. 

I couldn't believe he did that. He hit me. Never had Noah ever been physical like that with me. 

I didn't recognise this man. He wasn't my Noah.
