I was relieved when Ares acknowledged that it would be better for me to spend some time away from the rest of the pack while they got used to the idea of me joining them as his mate. I hadn’t really believed that they would agree with me, but it was the only way I could realistically imagine sorting myself out without tarnishing their opinion of me any more than necessary. When I finally heard the things, they truly thought about me, it made me sure that it was the right decision. There was no risk of them forming any negative opinions about me because they had already done that; they had decided what they thought of me and who they believed I was.
