Hey Stranger

" Did you really think just because you moved away, you could get out of our bet?" Ammy laughed hysterically, making me wince. "Now answer—truth or dare?" "I'm not even in Queens anymore, Amelia. Just let it go already; this is stupid." "Let it go? After you embarrassed me in front of the whole school, you suddenly expect me to let it go? As if! Now, pick, bitch." The truth was, I didn’t even understand why Amelia was so angry. I knew I might have exaggerated the dare I gave her. Both of us played a game of truth or dare every Friday before school ended. We took turns daring each other to do the craziest things, and it even went as far as making each other have s*x. I lost my virginity the first time I played that game when Ammy dared me to sleep with one of my classmates. I was young back then, so I didn’t think much about it. To retaliate, I dared Amelia to go into the boys' shower room after their basketball tournament, half-naked, and declare her undying love for the basketball team captain. I guess Amelia lost her reputation after that, but I didn’t think she would hold such a grudge. I mean, we were friends, so she had to understand that it wasn’t completely my fault. The dares were irrevocable, and one couldn’t back out of them, but if you were really desperate not to do it, you could always offer something else as compensation. I was too tired to handle Amelia’s nonsense right now; I just wanted to get it over with. So, I simply went along with it. "Alright then, Amelia, I pick dare." "Excellent!" Amelia exclaimed from the other end of the line, her voice dripping with excitement and malice. I couldn’t help but shiver. Something didn’t feel right. "I dare you to sleep with the first person you see." And there it was. Somehow, I should have seen this coming. Of course, she wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to get her payback. "Excuse me, are you being serious right now?" "As serious as I can be. Now hurry up and fulfill the dare." "Come on, Amelia, don’t be like that. I haven’t been in Tokyo long, so I don’t have that many friends. Who the hell am I supposed to sleep with? I’m in a f****** bar right now; it’s too dangerous." "That doesn’t sound like my problem. Are you going to fulfill the dare, or do you want me to give you something else to do?" "What else is there?" "Well, you could always pay me." "How much?" "Five hundred thousand dollars, right now." "Are you insane? You know I can’t afford that. You just want to get back at me no matter what, don’t you?" "It’s good you understand me this much. So hurry up and complete your dare, and don’t you dare think I won’t find out if you fake it. Karma will kill you. Remember the rules, b****." "Alright, whatever. I get it." With those words, I angrily hung up. I was on the verge of exploding with anger. I hated that b****! I couldn’t handle her! Was she on a mission to give me AIDS? Of course, I knew I was being overdramatic, but I had every right to be. It’s not every day you find yourself in this kind of situation. I always knew I needed to surround myself with good friends; Ammy was not good. I should have cut her off a long time ago. Where the hell was I going to find a trustworthy person to screw? I couldn’t handle all the strange people back at the bar. I turned to go back into the bar, but an unfamiliar sound caught my attention. I turned my gaze to where the noise had come from. It sounded like someone clearing their throat. At the far end of the dark alley, I saw a shadowy figure leaning against the wall. Why was he standing there alone? I had no idea who he was, but I was curious to find out. Against my better judgment, I walked toward him. Brian’s warning from earlier rang in my head, but I ignored it. As I drew closer to the figure, his appearance became clearer. In the dim light, I could make out his features: charcoal-black hair drawn back in a ponytail, dark eyes complemented by incredibly long lashes, and peach-colored lips wrapped firmly around a cigarette. Just the sight of him and the cold aura he gave off made my legs feel like jelly. I contemplated whether the dare was even worth fulfilling. ‘Sleep with the first person I see.’ Was the dare worth approaching this mysterious and handsome guy for? What if I got killed for it? (Tokyo didn’t have the best reputation when it came to safety). Or maybe it could be worse, but the guy was smoking hot. If I was going to sleep with a stranger, it had to be him. Before I could change my mind, I swallowed the lump of saliva that had gathered in the back of my throat and approached the figure. I hoped this wouldn’t end up being the worst mistake of my life. "Hey there," I said in the most sultry voice I could muster. Dark eyes turned to gaze down at me. He was so tall that I had to tilt my head up to meet his gaze.
