Chapter 3 A week into camp, Jamie finishes one of the books he brought with him. He’s putting it back in the dust cover when Chris walks in and shuts the door behind him. “Edgar Allan Poe?” Chris asks. “Yeah.” Jamie feels himself bracing to be mocked like he has been on campus, even though Chris hadn’t done that so far this week. “Is that the nevermore dude?” Jamie is surprised. “You mean The Raven? Yeah, it’s my favorite poem of his.” He wants to kick himself for admitting to a football player that he has a favorite poem. “We studied him in my literature class. I liked that one.
