“Mom you did not go to that customers cabin and bring her dinner,” exclaimed A.J as he started doing some paperwork for the business.
“I certainly did. When she booked the cabin she mentioned that she would head straight here after she got a rental and when you mentioned she didn’t bring any groceries in I figured I would make her dinner and bring it to her. It was a very nice change,” huffed Sophia as she was checking the days logs for check ins and check outs.
“What was a nice change,” asked Sebastian as he walked the door with his hiking gear. Sophia looked over at her oldest son and rolled her eyes. Always needing to know everything that is going on and yet barely shared any information about himself. His father was the same way except his father kept dark secrets that ended up hurting the family.
“Well hello son. So glad you could join us. Good morning to you too,” Sophia said sarcastically.
“Sorry mom. Good morning and I love you,” Sebastian said as he made himself a cup of coffee. “But really what was A.J saying about you taking dinner to a customers cabin.
“I took dinner to one of our customers last night. It is the first time we have had a woman by herself and I decided to take it upon myself to make sure she has a good stay with us. I am glad I went because she is a beautiful young lady and has went through something similar to myself.”
“So that’s why you broke off having dinner with me last night. Good to know where I lay on your importance scale mom,” joked Sebastian. He knew his mother put her children first before even herself.
“Oh my goodness. Its not my fault all my sons eat like the world is ending in five minutes and only talk about how the twins are the only ones who have found their mates. I had a great time and we are actually going to have a girls day when she gets here. After finding out about her divorce and her ex husband signing his rights over to their kids I realized we had a lot in common and that I could maybe help her out with advice and such. Your father was a bit different since he just left with his secretary out of the blue but it was still hard to be a single mother of four young boys. The hardest was the questions you all would ask about where you father was and when you would get to see him next. I had no idea how to answer you and had no one to turn to for help.” Sophia has to turn away so they wouldn’t see the pain in her eyes but both sons knew what she went through. Only Sebastian really remembers how hard things were in the beginning since he is the oldest. He was 8 years old when they came home to an empty house void of all of their fathers things and anything nice that had been in the house. There was a letter with divorce papers on the table. His brothers had been younger than 5 years old so only a few things stuck out.
“Oh no. I wondered why she was so quiet while I was there yesterday starting the fire. She is very pretty and has a great laugh. I thought about asking her out but I know she is just visiting. She mentioned she had kids so I knew a fling wasn’t in the cards with someone like her,” A.J said as he put a hang on his mothers shoulder. “Dad lost the best thing that ever happened to him when he left you mom. You have always been the best mother a guy could ask for even if you gave me crap brothers!” He laughed at that when he got a glare from his brother Sebastian. Sebastian and himself were the only two that really helped run the cabins. His twin younger brothers ran a construction company in the next town over. They were always busy with the company and their mates.
“Thank you, kiddo. Now get your work done while I make nail appointments for Heather and I. Sebastian you have a couple hikes booked for today and two of them have younger children who may try to run off the trail. Make sure the pack knows what is going on for today’s schedule. We don’t want to have to start looking for a lost customer,” Sophia turned to her son to make sure he was listening to her. He ran the hiking and rock-climbing part of the business for the most part.
“Ok I will let them know. Be careful today while driving. The weather is supposed to get worse and I don’t want you to get hurt,” Sebastián said as he kissed his mother on the cheek before he left to meet up with the first group of hikers.
Sophia got on the phone and booked a nail appointment plus picked out the place to eat. Sophia let A.J know she was going back to her place to freshen up and to call when Heather got there. She hoped today went well and that during her stay with them she could help Heather find herself again. It took her a few years to do so but she was blindsided when it happened. It seemed Heather had a bit of a hint but either way it still was a crappy thing to go through. Too bad Heather already had children she could have been a mate for either A.J or Sebastian. Since the twins found their mates, she barely sees them but she knew that they laid some blame on her for their dad leaving. They were super young to remember what had happened, they just remembered asking all the time to see their dad and didn’t know why they couldn’t see him or talk to him. She did her best not to show him in a bad light so they could make that choice when they got older but as a parent it is hard. Eventually they understood but it still hurt them.
