Chapter 14 : Happy Birthday*

Three weeks later.
Jamie was excited to get up this morning, it was her sixteenth birthday after all! Jamie had fully recovered from her ordeal and had spent time in either the Royal Kennels or Stables. The Capital itself was huge! Riversmeet was built around the meeting of two rivers: The River Strong and The Blackwell. The Blackwell had dark peaty water from the highlands of Riverswell. This created a dramatic effect when mixed with the light waters of The River Strong.
Jamie hadn't had much time to explore the Capital, Lord Raoul would not let her out of the Palace grounds. Yet, her first impression when arriving stuck with her: the bright colours, exotic smells and the bustle of people.
The Royal Palace itself was breathtaking. A large white castle with red slate roofs surrounded by a high wall. Inside the wall was everything a small town would need, including Kitchens, Bakery, gardens, Schools and even a brewery! Important figures would have their estates on the Royal Palace grounds. Lord Raoul was no exception.
Jamie had cried with happiness when she saw her room, much to Sam’s amusement.
“It is only a bed and some basic furniture, Kitten!” Sam had said.
But to Jamie, it was pure luxury! Fluff meowed his approval and had jumped up on the bed straight away.
“Thank you so much, Sam!” Jamie had cried, as she hugged him.
Sam, clearly embarrassed, quickly introduced Mrs Oakheart, the House Mistress for the Female Servants Quarters. Mrs Oakheart was an old lady who was quick to smile. Her silver hair is tied up in a professional bun. She had a full-length black servant's dress on with a white spotless apron. Jamie knew she would instantly like her.
Jamie had woken to an amazing smell. The smell was from one of Mrs Oakheart's famous breakfasts. Jamie's stomach rumbled as she walked into the dining area. “Morning Miss Jamie, how are you and Master Fluff today? I have cooked you some eggs and bacon. There is also tea in the pot. Master Fluff is having Kippers this morning if it pleases him!” Mrs Oakheart said kindly.
“Tell her she is a blessing from the Moon Goddess herself” Mind-linked Fluff.
Jamie repeated what Fluff had said, and Mrs Oakheart chuckled. Mrs Oakheart placed down one plate of bacon and eggs for Jamie and another of Kippers for Master Fluff. Fluff meowed his thanks and tucked in.Jamie started to attack the food. “What are you up to today? I heard you made friends with a white mare?” enquired Mrs Oakwood.
“Yes, Windsoul! How did you hear about that?” Jamie asked. Windsoul had been in the rogues' paddock, a paddock reserved for horses so wild they could not be safely trained. Windsoul had mind-linked and introduced herself. After that, she was moved to the stable and was even teaching Jamie to ride!
“Oh, I hear about many things, but in this case, it was the stable hand, Garry. He seems quite taken with you. Maybe he will ask you to the Summer Solstice Ball!" Mrs Oakheart said with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Oh, Mrs Oakheart that is two months away! Plus, eww!” Jamie said.
Mrs Oakheart chuckled, she knew dam well a certain Lord would not allow Garry with a hundred miles of his Kitten! Jamie suddenly started coughing and Mrs Oakheart quickly got her a cup of water. She put her hand on her forehead.
“Jamie you are burning up! You need to go back to bed and for me to call a Doctor!” Mrs Oakheart said.
“Stop worrying Mrs Oakheart, I will be fine and I promised Thorn I would help him groom some dogs today! Besides, it is my Birthday and I am sure that it is a law that you can’t be ill on your Birthday!” Jamie Said.
“It is your Birthday? Many Happy Birthday returns!! Oh, you kept that quiet, you scoundrel!! I must start baking the perfect Birthday tea. Let me see we can have scones, traybake...” Mrs Oakheart said to herself.
“That sounds lovely Mrs Oakheart! I will be going to the kennels now.” Jamie smiled, her plan of distracting Mrs Oakheart had worked well!
Jamie was walking out the door when Mrs Oakheart said, “Don’t forget your reading and writing lesson at three with Lord Raoul!"
Jamie stomach suddenly had butterflies of excitement, but, she did not know why!
“Tell her not to worry and we will be back. Say I am sorry too!” Fluff mumbled through his mind linked interrupting Jamie’s thoughts.
“What?“ Jamie said confused.
“Do it!” Hissed Fluff.
“Jeez, what has got you all worked up?” thought Jamie.
“ Fluff is being weird Mrs Oakheart, he says not to worry and we are back soon and that he is sorry! No idea why though!” Jamie said
Mrs Oakheart's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Fluff, she then quickly smiled and said, “ I see you at half four, don’t be late!"
With that, Jamie walked out the door!
On the way to the Royal Kennel, Jamie mind linked with Fluff “How come sometimes Mrs Oakheart can understand you?”
“She has a touch of wild magic and can sometimes talk to cats.” Fluff simply replied.
“Oh, do I have wild magic?“ Jamie asked.
“Yes.“ was the simple reply from Fluff. With that, they ran to the Royal Kennels.

8 hours later
Raoul was sat at his desk in his office. He was supposed to be going through stock orders for the Royal Stables but he could not concentrate today. Blackthorn had come out of hiding and was pacing at the back of his mind. Raoul was staring at the present he had got Kitten. It was a silver bracelet with black opals and a silver wolf charm. He had spelled the black opals with a high-level protection spell. He was taking no chances with her.
“Oh, my Love, you shouldn’t have!”
He looked up and saw Elsie standing there. She was wearing a red dress that showed off her cleavage and her hair was down. She had bright red lipstick on and green eye shadow that highlighted her amber eyes.
“f**k!” Raoul thought, “Jamie is coming in less than half an hour.“
“Get rid of this power-hungry slut!” Blackthorn demanded.
Raoul coughed before saying, "It was a surprise gift for the Ball!”
“Oh, I am sorry, did I ruin things for you? I apologise for me visiting unannounced, I just had not heard from you in a while.” Elise said with fake sadness.
“I apologise, I have been busy.” Raoul lied casually.
Elsie’s eyes narrowed. “So, I have heard. You have been having daily visits with a red hair girl in your office!” she accused.
“To teach her to read and write, that is all.“ Raoul said dismissively.
“Oh. Well then...Let me make it up to you for spoiling your surprise!" Elsie seductively walked around Roal’s desk and kissed him.
Elise moaned with pleasure as she slipped her tongue into his mouth. Raoul’s body responded and Elsie ripped open his shirt.
“Please Elsie, stop!” begged Raoul.
“Why? Everyone knows about us.” Elise said simply. She started to slowly kiss down his chest and six-pack. Raoul felt his c**k twitch and go hard.

Jamie blushed, mumbled an apology as she closed the door.
“f*****g go after our mate you stupid prick! I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THIS!“ Blackthorn screamed in Raoul’s mind.
“f*****g chaos!” Raoul shouted.
