Chapter 22 : I love you*

The Elemental Gods were as good as their word and released Richard in the morning. Richard was surprised to see flowers already growing around a new cottage. 

“ Ah, the descendent of the demon of stupidity has arisen. Praise be!” Edward said mockingly.

“Shut up Ed, I know I made a c**k of myself!" Richard snapped.

“My friend there is no c**k in the world big enough to compare how much of a c**k you made of yourself. It took a good 8 hours before Amon decided to give up!” Edward commented.

“Wait, 8 hours?!? Any news on Princess and the cloaking spell?“ Richard said, frowning. 

Edward looked crestfallen as he said, “We have been working on it through the night, no luck so far!”

Richard cursed before saying, “ I bloody kill her when I get my hands on her!”

Jamie woke up from the best nights sleep she had in years. She quickly got up and relieve the self there is some bushes and walked over to the pool. Fluff was slowly waking up and stretching out in the cave. Jamie bent over the pool as she was about to wash her face when she stopped and gasped. She had black lines that formed a delicate swirling pattern round her eyes and the bridge of her nose. It reminded Jamie of how roses intertwined, or a very delicate lace pattern she had seen once. In the middle of her forehead was her crescent moon. Jamie saw that there were runes all over her arms, neck and chest. 

Jamie was so engrossed in looking at the runes she did not notice the water changing colour. An insidious jelly mass was coming to the surface. It constantly shifted in colour from yellow, blue, brown, purple and black. Fluff hissed a warning but it was too late. The quivering mass formed a long limb that quickly wrapped around Jamie’s wrist. Jamie screamed as she felt a burning sensation. 

A silver shimmer formed on the limb and Fluff appeared. He dug his claws in and the creature hissed in pain and retracted the limb.

“Run!” Screamed fluff through the mind link

Jamie got half to the cave when she felt she felt another limb attach to her ankle. It pulled and she landed face forward on the ground. Jamie quickly called the fire element and burned the pulsating limb. It recoiled again, Jamie turn over and move but more limbs appeared. Jamie Dodged them the best she could. She glanced at Fluff, who was fighting his own battle with smaller limbs. The small ones were shaped as sharp spear points.

Jamie finished freezing the two limbs, but unsurprisingly four limbs burst from the water. Jamie quickly grabbed her Matantur from her hair and willed it into a broad sword. Jamie grounded herself and shouted, “ Come on you fucker!" Jamie wasn’t going down without a fight!

Richard suddenly gasped as he felt Jamie’s presence. He felt Jamie's burning pain and adrenaline suddenly well up in him. Something must have broken the cloaking spell and it was hurting his Mate!

“Edward, she is in trouble! Get the others and follow me as soon as you can.” Richard ordered. Edward nodded, as Richard called his power and transported himself to where he felt Jamie. 

When he got there, he saw Jamie madly fighting off six limbs who were trying to attack her. She was dodging and slashing elegantly like she was dancing.

 “ What is a chaos pit creature doing here?” Amon asked shocked.

Suddenly, one of the limbs whipped her thigh and she screamed. Richard let Amon take over, as they ran to Jamie side and launched a black energy ball at the creature. The limbs recoiled and there was a scream of rage. It looked like it was going to attack again but Richard/Amon launched another black fireball. It screamed again and retreated underwater.

“About time you turned up!” scolded Fluff.

Richard ignored the black cat and turned to Jamie. “Are you ok?” He asked, his voice full of concern.

Jamie launched herself and gave Richard/Amon a passionate kiss. She pulled her head back and whispered, “ I am so sorry Richard, I was frightened because I love you! I am so scared that I would lose you like I did my parents!"

Richard/Amon stopped her rambling with a soft kiss. “It’s ok Princess, I love you too!” he said. Richard gasped when he noticed Jamie's runes. “You got some of your runes back, they are so bea...” Richard had begun to say before he screamed out in pain. Sliver blood trickled out of his mouth. Jamie screamed as she saw the creature’s limb coming out of the area Richard’s heart should have been. The pit demon hadn’t left, it was just waiting for the right moment when Richard has his back turned. Richard passed out hearing the screams of Jamie’s anguish.
