Impact! Gus's muddy paws landed right on her white shirt and sent her toppling over. Her small purse flew out of her hands and seemed to remain suspended in the air by itself for a moment or two before it crashed to the ground and dumped its contents all over the cement.
Arthur may have had the tiniest inkling to laugh at the sight of Nancy and Gus in a free fall if he hadn't been worried about her safety, not to mention the lawsuit that was sure to follow.
