Chapter Five The morning came much too quickly, the garbage manbanging as loudly as he could beneath my window. It was 7:30, and consideringthe night I’d had, I might have turned over and gone back to sleep once theracket was over, but there was another hunch gnawing me in the gut. Jumping outof bed, I went straight for the living room, and just as I feared, Bridget wasgone. The bedding was folded in a neat pile, her pillow fluffed, with a note ontop. “Thanks for rescuing me.
