3 Tristan stepped into the kitchen for a moment and returned very shortly. I then followed him out into the warm, sunlight world, but our path didn’t let us stay in the bright light. Harlipren was a thick mess of forest that surrounded two sides of Tristan’s estate. The woods were untouched by man and ruled by the pixie folk known as ellyll. A heavy scent of age hung over the woods as Tristan guided me down a narrow dirt path that wound its way through the ancient trees. Every shadow gave me a bit of a start. “Do you think anything’s left over from Katherine’s spells?” Tristan shook his head. “No. With the return of the king and queen, no doubt every speck of her spell was washed away.” My eyes widened. “Are they powerful in magic like you?” “More powerful,” he corrected me.
