Chapter 2

DELVIN

I cracked my eyes open and the light hurt my eyes, my curtains having not been closed the previous night.I could feel the beginnings of a headache coupled with the fact that I felt feverish. My rut was due in two days, not this early.By evening I would be completely under, and I needed to find a rut companion as fast as possible. Luckily for the royals, we had a few who were always at our disposal.

" Would still prefer the beauty from last night,'' my wolf spoke.

Now that piqued my interest. I was naked but that was not anything new. I always slept in the nude, so hearing I had someone from the previous night was pretty surprising. I could not piece a lot from the previous night. Just recalling being with my friends at the club before I got a whiff of an intoxicating scent that I followed. That was the last thing I clearly remembered.

" What did you do ?" I screamed at my wolf, who remained pretty silent. He must have taken control and brought someone home.

" Please tell me you made her sign an NDA?''I asked, sighing in disappointment.

"Rex?" I called to him. He was deathly quiet and that was the answer I needed.

Cursing out, I threw my covers off, seeing as our companion was not with us in bed, hopefully she was still around in the kitchen or the bathroom.

Walking around, I could finally feel the tire in my muscles. Rex had definitely worked us to the bone.

Looking around, I did not find anyone , everything looked untouched just how I had left it.

" Sorry. I don't know what came over me yesterday,'' finally Rex spoke and I could feel the guilt in his voice. We had never slept with anyone without ensuring we were completely protected. Being the future heir of a whole kingdom meant ensuring your business was not plastered on the internet and discretion by our partners was always paramount. Now I was looking at a looming disaster.

" Do you at least remember her name?"I asked, feeling the sheets on the side of her bed which were pretty cold. She must have left hours before. A bit of her scent still clung to them , vanilla and a hint of caramel, a great combination, I thought to myself.

" I may have been pretty preoccupied that I missed getting that detail,'' Rex replied, grinning wolfishly.

''Jesus, Rex,'' I exclaimed. My wolf did not seem to see the seriousness of the situation, still grinning.

"I hope you will be grinning like that when grandpa calls us to lecture me over being reckless when the tabloids rip me apart if they haven't already started. " I grumbled.

" They will have nothing to say but a report from a well-satisfied Omega. We didn't lack in that department,'' Rex responded cockily.

I had the most annoying wolf in the history of wolves.

" Yeah, for the whole kingdom and the whole world to read. Which will proceed to shame the whole family,'' I replied, annoyed.

I was feeling a bit antsy especially with the onset of our rut and the potential scandal that was about to hit us. I needed that Omega found immediately.

" They should be happy their beloved prince is getting it. Not unlike our neighboring Prince who has everyone running away from him,'' he shuddered. Prince Xenus was a different tale altogether.

Luckily, my phone was still beside my bed, Rex not having lost it during his escapade. I called my assistant, who was also among my closest friends.

It took three rings before a bored voice at the other end of the line answered,

'' What?''

" No Good morning my Prince?"' I asked, in the mood to pester the other man. I could picture him rolling his eyes . I was to him what Rex was to me. The most annoying person he knew.I heard him sighing on the other end, his patience running thin.

" Okay, sorry man. It's about last night. I may have brought home an Omega who I need to find. ''

" They didn't leave their number or something? Or do you need some flowers delivered?"' he asked.

"Not flowers, but we messed up. We did not have them sign the NDA or find out anything about them. Just their scent,'' I said while waiting for the onslaught of insults that he would definitely throw at me.

" What were you thinking? This is unlike you,'' he said, too calm for my liking.

" Not so much of me but Rex, but you get it.I need it taken care of as soon as possible,'' I finished off.

" You are an i***t. I hope you used protection at least,'' he asked, the disappointment in his voice not carefully hidden.

" Rex?'' I called to my wolf, who had definitely heard the question.

'' Well, when you have the most gorgeous omega under you begging you to knot her and fill her up with pups, you oblige like a good Alpha,'' he answered, puffing his chest out.

" Not the question Rex,'' I responded, aggravated.

" Sorry,'' he responded in a sad whine.

" We did not,'' I answered my assistant finally, who then just ended the call. I needed not say more, that omega being found was his biggest priority.

I was pretty angry at Rex, deciding to just give him the silent treatment until my anger would simmer down. I showered and prepared breakfast while Rex kept peeping in with apologies, but I ignored him till he faded away.

He could sulk and think about what he had done. Checking my social media, I checked the messages from my friends who had all messaged our group chat as well as messaging me privately. Deciding to save the messages for later after my rut , I called the palace cook to prepare my favorite treats as well as have them delivered to my apartment, which would include enough food to sustain me for the few days I would be inside.

I changed my sheets, depositing the dirty bunch in a hamper, opting to wash them later together with the others that I would use.I also went about cleaning my apartment and tidying it up.

I was ready. My fever had already gone higher and I was already sweating. I could not ignore Rex for longer, since once our rut fully hit he would take complete control.

We had a list of rut of companions who were exclusive to royalty, so I opened my phone to check through and see who was available. There was Sandy who was always my go to, a petite and lovely omega who we had stuck a rapport with. She knew exactly what I liked and had been my companion for two years, but today she did not appeal to me like she always had.

" Rex, I know you are there, so come out and help me pick before I choose anyone,'' I told him, impatient.

I wanted this done as fast as possible.

We started with the first Omega, who he refused. We moved to the next and the same thing happened till we were done with the list.. Frustrated, I asked for his reasons, which went from she looks short, to their hair color being too bright, to not liking their eye colours. Ridiculous excuses, even their fingers were too short, which was the most outlandish of all.We were in a stale mate. Picking out someone who my wolf did not want was out of the question. It would be cruel to him and the other party.

" Can't we ask if she has been found?'' he asked quietly, and I felt sorry for him.

" It's pretty late, so what makes you think she would agree to that?"

" Seems we are spending this rut alone bud,'' I said offhandedly, hoping it would make him cave and choose someone.

" That's fine. I will manage,'' he replied, determined, which was unlike him. We were not prudish at any cost, but hearing my wolf forego s.ex was new, especially during a rut when any omega would do,all that was needed was just to satiate that craving.

" Is there something you are not telling me?'' I asked. I may have been too hard on him.

" I imprinted on her, '' Rex replied and I cursed. This was way worse than I had imagined.
