Adaline's POV

"Please have a seat." We both sat down on one of the couches and faced each other. "Adaline, we have similar stories. I'm not sure what my son has told you about our family yet, but if there is anyone that could understand and stand behind you fully, it will be me." He took a deep breath, "Is this about the woman in the pictures with you in here?" I have a feeling she isnt Sam's mom anymore. "Yes it is. You see, Renee is my second chance mate. I am her true mate. It all gets very complicated when there are second chances involved." He slightly chuckled. "So she is not Sam's mom?" "No, she was his aunt, Stephens' sister." Oh no, this affects so many here. " When I was 18 I found her, obviously she was here since she was my fathers Beta's daughter, her name was Brooke, we were only a year apart but my wolf told me and we started dating. After her 18th birthday, we got married and she became the official Luna of our pack. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever met." He paused, picking up a picture of Brooke smiling and I could tell laughing wildly as she was perched on his shoulders while swimming. " Not too long after we were attacked by rogues, they were in a group larger than we had ever fought before. I had taken on about 5 on my own when one tried to get me from behind." Tears started in his eyes, I instinctively grabbed his hand. "Brooke saw the rogue before I did and she lept at him. He saw her coming and turned and tore her throat out right in front of me. She died saving me, protecting me." Oh my god, this man saw the love of his life ripped from his life. Tears began to fall down both of our faces. "I am so sorry Bennett, that is awful, unimaginable. If I may ask how you found Renee then?"

"I went into a bit of a spiral from life and neglected my alpha duties. You see when you loose your mate it tends to drive a wolf mad. Most die of broken hearts. However, my wolf Max wouldn't allow it to happen. I now know it was due to him feeling Renees bond pull. I had to attend an alpha meeting at a neighboring pack, Red Moon. It was mandatory. You actually get punished if you don't go. Stephen dragged me, I mean literally dragged me out of the house and to the car. As we were both having a hard time healing but he knew we needed to go." He chuckled at the memory. "That is where I met Renee. She had just turned 18. Funny enough, Stephen met Maria there as well. Renee was Alpha Richard's daughter, so she has Alpha blood, which in turn makes our children very powerful wolves, since they are pure alpha blood. She saw the state I was in and heard my story and she knew of a powerful witch in town that they had helped once and knew she could help heal me. Beck." WOAH WHAT! "BECK?" How? " Ill let her explain it to you a little later. Anyway, with the help of Renee and Beck, they healed me. I'll never forget or not love Brooke. That is also largely thanks to Renee. She refuses to let anyone forget Luna, who lost her life defending their Alpha. When I heard your story I couldn't imagine the pain you have been through as you already had a small child with him, but I did know the pain of the loss, the pain of the sadness that gets you everyday. So, as your to be father-in-law, I want you to know you can always talk to me about this and I will help you through it. Anyway I possibly can." I couldn't hold back. I grabbed him and hugged him as tight as I could. "I am so sorry Bennett, so sorry. I would love to hear more about Brooke later on if that is okay." He smiled wide. "I would love that, also I want the memories of your husband around here as well. Pictures, memorabilia, whatever it is, because he is just as important to this family."

I started crying harder. How could I get so lucky to have such wonderful people around me, especially people who have just met me that are already taking me in and trying to help? The door swung open and Barrett charged in "Adaline, are you okay? What's wrong? Dad what did you do?" Wow. "Barrett calm down, I am fine, why are you all worked up?" He noticed we were hugging and a growl slipped out. That one I heard. "Excuse me what was that?" He froze slightly. "Yes son what was that." Bennett was in a fit of giggles now. Barrett blushed insanely. "Uhm sorry its a wolf thing, we get very possessive over what is ours." I chuckled this time "Well as you can see there is no threat here, your father is smitten with your mother and the thought of us is gross Bennett so chill on that and I am becoming pretty smitten with you so chill before that changes." I tried to do a stern mom tone but it came out way more quite that I anticipated. He smiled so wide " You are smitten with me?" "Who said that?" I giggled, looking around, "Seriously Barrett, though I am fine. Your father here just told me about his story and also told me he wanted Sebastian apart of the home as well. That is all. It's a happy sadness. Wait? How did you know I was sad in the first place?" "Well, since you are my mate, even without your wolf, I can still feel the bond slightly and your emotions, so I got nervous, plus I was right outside the door." He looked down embarrassed. "As far as Sebastian" he was cut off by his mom coming in "I think it is a great idea plus it will be good for James to still see and get to know his father." Bennett looked mad, maybe he doesn't want that? "I was gonna say that mother" he grumbled like a small child that didn't get to tell the secret they were promised to tell. I lost it, I was laughing so hard. Renee started laughing too, as she probably heard it the way I did. " Anyway, dinner is ready, James is very impatiently waiting. I guess they worked up quite that appetite playing." That makes total sense.

"Alright, let's go feed my mini man!" His parents started to leave. "Hey Bennett?" He turned to look at me smiling. "Are there going to be a lot of the pack here? I'm a little nervous." I don't think I am ready to explain my story again just yet, but I know they will have questions. He looked really sympathetic. " Dont worry you wont have to tell them, my mother already took care of it and she warned them if they asked any questions about it they would be in trouble. She is a really scary woman and no one wants to cross her. They all understand the situation and circumstances. We want you to be as comfortable as possible." Wow okay I guess that is one less thing I have to do. He took my hand to lead me to the door. I just looked at his face. His blue eyes sucked me in every time and his chiseled jawline that led to his very plump lips. For a guy. When he smiles he has these two perfect dimples on both cheeks. I felt my heart start to race, it was like it was its own little marching band and I couldn't control what happened next. I placed my hands on his face and pulled him into a kiss. A very hard kiss. I felt him tense up and the shock of it, but that did not last long. He had his arms around my torso in seconds and lifted me up. I wrapped my legs around his body and my arms around his neck. What the heck is going on with me? He was fighting for dominance, that was for sure, but I wouldn't give it to him. He squeezed my side slightly, making me gasp, which granted him access. My god, his tongue was fast and he tasted amazing. I felt a feeling in my lower abdomen that I hadn't felt in some time. I just met this guy. What am I doing? I didn't stop, however. I kept deepening the kiss. I felt his pants begin to bulge and by that he felt huge. We both finally pulled back for some air and he placed his forehead on mine. Breathing heavily " I am sorry. I have no idea why I did that. I mean, I don't think I know, but I think I know. God that doesn't make any sense." He started laughing "Its the mate bond. Being around me more, you will feel it slightly more. You won't feel it fully until you're a wolf, but it will get stronger. I don't want you uncomfortable though, so please don't do anything until you are ready." He placed me back on my feet, I pouted a little at that, which earned another chuckle. He pecked my cheek, "come on let's go get James fed and get some food in your stomach since we haven't eaten in a while." I smiled, thinking of James all happy at the dinner table with everyone, "Okay let's do this and Bennet I want a real kiss no cheek kiss please." He smiled and kissed me again. This man.
