"I think I should talk to Ashley alone," Asher says, sounding weak and defeated.
The first thing I notice is that he called her by her real name, which he never does. Something feels off. "No," I growl. "You're talking to me. The person you swore on your life to that you'd never do anything-"
"Look, it's not what you think," he interrupts. "She was never my girlfriend. I barely even know her."
"You barely even know her?" I ask incredulously, standing to my feet. "This-" I motion to the aftermath of a cat fight- no, scratch that- bloodbath, at the hands of my mother. "This isn't 'I barely know her,'" I say, using air quotes. "You're lying to me."
