Chapter 12Alone in the recreation room, Rainbird looked up as Tamesis, Amira, and Chelan sat around him.
“Is everything all right between you and Iseoy?” Tamesis asked.
The blunt question caught Rainbird unawares, and he sat for a moment unable to reply.
“Well?” Chelan demanded, his voice low. “Is it?”
“Yes,” Rainbird blurted. “Yes.” He sighed heavily and hoped his smiled looked more sincere than he felt. His heart ached for his beloved mate, but there was nothing anyone could do. “Iseoy decided to inform his father of his decision to take me as his mate.
