Marcus knew something was off when Ava came back to the packhouse by herself. He saw the terror and shock in her eyes and realized something terrible had happened, especially when he knew that Thessalia was not with her.
"Where's Thessalia?" he asked, his voice filled with great concern.
Ava took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "We were attacked," she said, her voice trembling. "She told me to run and get help. I don't know what happened to her."
His eyes widened in shock as he listened to her words. "Attacked? By who? Did you see anything?" he asked urgently.
Ava shook her head, her eyes brimming with tears. "I don't know, they came out of nowhere.”
