THIRD PERSON POV
Asher watched as she slept. His wolf ears picked up the faint sound of her breathing and he could feel her warmth.
He couldn't stop looking at her lips, which were slightly open. The urge to lean down and press his lips down on hers was so strong and it took almost all his willpower to stop him.
She indeed was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. His mind could not let go of the memory of her naked body.
She looked like she was sculpted by the moon goddess herself.
He remembered her n*****s – small, hard balls which he wanted to wrap his mouth around and suck. Her tiny waist, which he desperately wanted to clench his hands around as he rammed into her from the back.
As he thought about all of these, he could feel his d**k harden as his blood rushed and his breathing spiked.
'Take her. She's all yours. Mark her right now, ' his wolf said to him in desperation.
Overcome by desire, Asher leaned down to kiss her but stopped midway. He wouldn't want to have her without her consent. He was not that sort of person. He was going to rather win her heart by showing her he was the one for her. Not his brothers.
Reluctantly, he reversed his movement and moved back up and instead, planted a kiss on her forehead.
However, the kiss lingered longer than necessary.
He then stood up and walked out of the room. He did not want to stay there and be tempted to do anything he would later regret.
Asher walked into the living room where he found the remaining two of the triplets sitting.
"We've been waiting for you," Levi said sternly to Asher as he walked in.
Asher totally ignored Levi as he fought to keep his anger under control.
It took all his self restraint to keep his wolf in check because all his wolf wanted to do was come out and pounce on Levi, so they would finish what they had started earlier on.
He had dared to hurt their mate. Levi, that is. It was unforgivable.
"Hey, bro." Quincy said to Asher, reclined nonchalantly on the couch with bored eyes.
Of the triplets, Quincy was the indifferent one. He was aware of the beef going on between the rest of his brothers but he was not interested or bothered. The dark prophecy and all it entailed did not appeal to him in any way as well. He was too sober for all this drama.
"We need to talk," Levi said to the two others but with his eyes actually fixed hard on Asher.
Asher could feel the glare of his brother's eyes on him but he totally ignored it.
When none of the two brothers regarded him, Levi continued. "There is a big problem on our hands and we need to find a way to solve it fast.”
"And I hope the problem you're referring to is you," Asher spat as he glared defiantly at Levi.
His brother was a difficult man with a stick shoved up hard in his ass. The only thing Levi cared about was being Alpha King, the rest of the world could burn for all he knew. Including his mate.
Quincy whistled at Asher's outburst, and Asher passed him the stink eye.
Levi’s jaws clenched down hard as he shot daggers at Asher. He knew Asher was a drama queen, a simp for anything with a v****a, but he’d never truly realized what a weak-hearted man he was until Amery came along yesterday.
If not for Asher, he’d have torn that silly girl to shreds. He felt no remorse, not even an atom of guilt that she was his mate and he’d tried to kill her. He’d do it again and this time, he swears to do it right.
In a calm yet strong voice, he responded. "How am I the problem?”
Asher chuckled in disbelief at Levi's words before saying. "Don't you see how selfish you are? You don't care about anyone but yourself. Nobody's opinion matters except yours! You don't even give a s**t about the repercussions of things, as long as it fits into whatever sick theory you have in your head! " Asher growled at Levi.
Quincy just sat back quietly as he observed the altercation unfolding before him. This wasn’t anything new to him — Asher and Levi were always on each other’s necks. Right from the womb if he could remember correctly. It was frankly boring at this point, and all this over a girl?
Levi did not say anything, unfazed by the fact that his brother was visibly seething. God, he wanted to yawn. Forever the drama queen, that’s what Asher was.
The room was so heated with their aggression that one would think it was an electric field.
"I don't regret any decision I took. That girl is a threat, and not just to me, everyone of us. So, before you jump into f*****g her like you desperately wish, think about that." Levi said slowly and deliberately in a deep voice that seemed to occupy the room. As he spoke, he looked at Asher right in the eyes.
Asher scoffed. “And she’s just another noble cause to you? You’re even more of an asshole than I’d thought. You still don't get to decide for everyone. She might be your threat, but that girl– " Asher said as he pointed in the direction of his room. "–is my mate and not just mine, she is ours! All three of us! It’s our job to protect and love her, not kill her because of a dumb prophecy.”
"I will do whatever I feel is necessary and right and I won't give a s**t what you think about it, Asher. After all, I am the only one here who seems to grasp the full extent of our situation. I am focused on the issue at hand unlike you who prefers to act as some stupid knight to an even stupider f*****g damsel! " Levi growled.
He had been trying to keep his cool all these while, but the fact that that girl seemed to have Asher in a chokehold pissed him off. How could one small, fragile and irrelevant girl cause this much damage?
At the sound of Amery being called stupid, Asher jumped to his feet and started to change. He had had enough of Levi's bullshit. His wolf didn't want anything except to see his dearest brother bleed.
Asher's green eyes seemed to have thunderbolts striking within them. If any human had seen him at that moment, they'd think they had seen the face of Zeus.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Calm down, bro! " Quincy shot up as he stood in front of Asher, trying to calm him down. He had to use nearly all his strength in order to hold Asher back as he was already wild with anger and had started changing.
Levi, on the other hand, was not shaken a bit. Throughout Asher's outburst, he had not even flinched but had sat, staring at Asher with a look of contempt on his face — which made Asher more angry.
"Don't let him get into your head! " Quincy tried to speak reason to Asher. “Calm down! He's not worth it. "
Against his will, Asher calmed down and took his seat as he breathed heavily in anger.
"Despite the distraction brought on us by Asher, we will still go on to discuss the problem.” There was emphasis in the last syllable as he sent a glare at Asher.
Asher was pissed off at the statement and made do to rise again but Quincy got to him first by pushing him back down with a tight glare.
"We all know the prophecy," Levi continued as though nothing had happened. “We will all be bound to the same mate till one of us marks her, whereas the other two die." Levi said, voice heavy and anger igniting within him at the mere thought of everything.
When he was done, he looked first at Quincy, then at Asher in a bid to remind them about the gravity of their problem.
"Now, we have found our mate, all that's left is the marking and the death of the other two." Levi said then he shifted to the edge of his chair and added, “Not to anyone’s surprise but I think this prophecy is bullshit. Why do any of us have to die based on the poor decisions of a stupid girl?”
"Watch your mouth, Levi. Watch your mouth, " Asher warned.
Levi, ignoring his statement, continued, “something needs to be done. I suggest she dies first. Since she is the problem, then she has to be removed from the story. "
"Do you hear how insane you sound?" Asher said. "The only reason you are bringing this up is because you know you don't have a chance at winning her heart. No reasonable girl would be suicidal enough to want you.”
Levi rolled his eyes. He’d kill her before she even gets the chance to want anyone.
"She is not dying, that’s final. There is no way I am letting you kill her,” Asher said defiantly.
"Don't you dare me, Asher." Levi growled.
"I dare you. Levi, if you f*****g lay your hands on Amery, I promise you, I'll forget you are my brother and I would haunt you! To the very ends of this world, I would rip out your heart with my bare hands.” Asher threatened.
"Then so be it.” Levi’s lips curled into a sinister smile and he rose to his feet. Asher might as well keep to his words now because that would be the only way to stop him.
Asher also got up. This was the moment he had been waiting for. He needed to give Levi what he had been asking for. A good goddamn beating.
The tension had gotten worse as the two brothers both faced off, ready for a fight when Quincy interrupted.
"Guys, guys, guys! All of this has to stop!” He was already frustrated with their fights. "There is a way around this. "
Asher and Levi seemed not to hear him and each, breathing like bulls ready to charge, challenged each other.
Quincy, aware of the lack of attention on him, said, "There is a way we can make this work and in a fun way. And guess what? Nobody even has to kill anybody! "
He got up and stood between his other two brothers.
"Come on, guys, all of this is not necessary. Rather, it is taking away our focus on what's on hand! " He scowled, trying to reason with them.
When they refused to acknowledge him, he pushed Asher back to his seat.
"Don't touch me," Levi said to Quincy as he tried to do the same to him.
Quincy raised his hands in surrender and went back to seat. Levi also got seated, begrudgingly.
"Listen, we are all bound to her, right? And only one of us is to win her heart, right? I suggest rather than fight and hate ourselves, we should bring a little fun into the picture and instead, compete for it. " Quincy said with a finality that looked like he had just discovered quantum physics.
"What exactly do you mean, Quincy? " Levi asks.
"I mean we should play a game where we all try to win her heart. She will not be aware of the game though, but everyone is allowed to go to any extent he wishes just to win her heart and whoever does, gets to mark her and live! Simple. "
The other two kept on staring at him and so he added, "Come on, guys, it'll be fun! Think of the thrill of trying to woo her. It'll bring a little more excitement to our lives and if eventually the other two dies, at least they had some fun. "
Levi shifted his eye from Quincy and found Asher staring at him.
"So, what do you think?" Asher asked him.
Levi raked his hands through his hair as he considered Quincy's suggestion.
He sighed then said. “Fine."
"Thats good. The rules of the game are simple. No one should create lies in order to sabotage anybody's efforts. Secondly, the person who captures her heart, gets to mark her. Thirdly, this should be kept a secret, especially from her. " Quincy counted.
"If I get to her first, I won't mark her. I will kill her and deliver her heart to the rest of you.” Levi said with a finality in his voice.
"Funny of you to think you have a chance at winning her heart," Asher said to Levi with a devious smile on his face, then to Quincy, he said. "I'm in. "
"Its a deal then! May the best man win." Quincy announced with a mischievous smile of his own. Now, she definitely has his attention too.
All of a sudden, this had turned out interestingly for Levi. This was the first time he had to play with his prey and the thought of it brought a wicked smile to his face.
This was the start of her end.
