CHAPTER 24: Changes
She stared at herself in front of the mirror, her hair had been dyed black and cut short, just like she wanted. She looked different. People say that time changes people, but Esme would add that time and events do. She fixed her school uniform jacket, holding the edges tightly, they folded under her hold it, creasing the material around it.
“Ready to go?” Jasper asked as she stepped out of the room. She was now sitting in.. Nodding gently, she grabbed her backpack and walked outside.
She glanced around, hoping to see him, but he wasn’t there.
“He’s not back yet, because you’re wondering,” Jasper answered, covering up the steps beside her as they walked to the car.
The cawing of the birds just above her sends her tilting her heads to watch them as they fly in pairs,
