As we sat on the plane, Nuru across from me lost in her thoughts, I was in my own world too, barely following Selina's chatter.
The thought crossed my mind—had someone alerted Nuru's father about us? The implications were unsettling, and I couldn't shake the unease that settled in the pit of my stomach.
Was it Selina? What about Ophelia who I barely knew anything about? And Cedric had he retaliated and ratted her out?
As the plane touched down in Seredentia, I knew I was back to my real world. I had not gotten the opportunity to bid Nuru goodbye but I hoped she would be okay.
