My suspicions about who had hurt Nuru now pointed directly at Kaid. The image of his face twisted with malice as he cornered her seared into my mind.
I left her for a second, and he somehow still cornered her.
I know what you’re thinking. I can hide a body Arcanis had added, his voice dripping with confidence while beaming with pride at how Nuru had stood up for herself.
“Yeah, and end up in jail,” I retorted.
