We had been exchanging looks with Cedric all through dinner as his mother entertained the table with talk and stories. She seemed to have a lot of bizarre stories that even had Selina and Damien laughing.
Dinner ended, and Cedric escorted me back to my room.
"Sorry for my mother," he apologized and I waved it away.
"I'll show you around soon," he promised, and I felt good. This is exactly what I had looked forward to.
The following morning, we still had breakfast at the table with everyone.
The Queen asked Cedric about his plans, but he had engagements to attend, much to her displeasure.
