Mandy’s POV We had a really good day, making several more stops along the road to Hana. We stopped Wai’anapanapa to marvel at the black sand beach and to view the lava tubes. Probably the most amazing place we stopped, though, was Ohe’o gulch, otherwise known as the seven sacred pools. It is a series of cascading waterfalls heading into the ocean within an area of unparalleled beauty. I’m left breathless at the beautiful sight as we hike down towards the rocky shore of the ocean. We debated about going around the backside of Haleakala during the walk back to the car. Mark considers to be much less scenic. The best option, in his opinion, is to turn around and head back to Kahului the way we came at this point. It was starting to get kind of late, though, and the usual afternoon
