I was enjoying the peace and quiet when Mark said he was going to the pool to swim laps. I find solitude to be almost essential to the creative process as I choose just the right colors to use in order to capture the beauty of Maui on a blank piece of paper. Using the right scale, and having the light source from the perfect angle. Adding the perfect amount of detail to set the mood, without it looking cluttered or haphazard.
I can’t bear to have people hanging about, looking over my shoulder as I work. Commenting on my unfinished pieces. Occasionally offering suggestions to make it ‘better’. Or worse, making disparaging remarks about my artistic talents in general.
