Atlas Evans
Ivy's P.O.V
This is the first time I’m moving into a castle. I never thought I’d get to have a dad and brothers. It has always been my mother and me, ever since I was little, so the thought of having a new family scares me.
I don’t know whether I’ll be able to get along with them or get used to them, nor they will be able to get used to me. But, when I heard about The King from My Mama’s mouth, I knew that she was in love with him.
So, refusing her wish will be like breaking her heart, which is why I didn’t want that to happen. So, I agreed to let her remarry for the sake of her happiness.
She had spent a long amount of her life raising me, putting the food on both of our plates. So, I wanted her to be happy, for me as well.
Today, we are moving into the castle, fear and excitement both filled my head, but I decided to put my faith in god, hoping that he’s always watching over us no matter where we go.
“Ivy, look, the castle is in sight!” My Mama squealed pointing at the castle gate through the window of the carriage.
I peek a closer look and saw the golden big gate and the castle hiding behind it.
It looked just like the one in fairytales and stories. Coming from a small village, a castle, kings, and princesses seem like a dream to us. Unless it wasn’t for her sake, we would never have been able to experience living in a castle.
“You are right Mama,” I replied giving a smile at her.
“The castle looks pretty.”
“I know!”.
She held onto my hand, grabbing it tightly.
“Are you excited to meet your brothers?” she asked, worry filling her brown eyes as her face became a bit saddened.
I know that she keeps my preference over everything, which is why she’s worried about whether I’ll like my new brothers or not.
I can’t blame her for worrying, I’m an unlikeable child according to the people in my village.
But still, no matter what happens, I promised myself that I’ll not make her life unfortunate any further. We will be happy together, from now on.
I smiled and replied, “I am. Why wouldn’t I be happy to meet my brothers?”.
Hearing this she sighs in relief. “Thank god. I was worried you weren’t happy about this whole moving thing.”
“I’m relieved now.”
The carriage stopped and we both got down.
A group of maids came to greet us.
“We will take your luggage.”
“Your Highness is waiting to greet you two, please come with me,” said another maid. She seemed like one of the youngest maids among them.
She had short hair which reached up to her shoulder blades, all black and silky.
“Let’s go, Ivy,” Mom said, taking my hand.
We were following the maid who led the way inside.
The castle was pretty from the inside as well. But we felt like commoners compared to the shiny and sparkling atmosphere of the castle.
“I know everything inside the castle. If you become lost call me. I’ll come and help you out,” said the maid with a smile.
I nod in reply.
“Thanks for your help.”
“No worries.”
“We will go upstairs and meet His Highness. It’ll take five minutes.”
We take the stairs and look around. Everywhere I looked I saw paintings and expensive furniture.
“Ivy, you’d better not touch anything and break it,” My mom warned, patting my head.
“I wasn’t planning on breaking them anyway!” I grunted giving a pout face.
“I knew what you were thinking, don’t worry.”
“Our Highness is a very kind person, he’s…..” the maid was talking and Mom listened to her with quite an interest.
I was, just staring at things, making sure I’d not touch anything and break it anyhow.
And it was at that moment, I noticed that I couldn’t hear the maid any longer.
“Did she stop talking suddenly?”.
I look around to see that there wasn’t anyone by my side and I was standing in the middle of a big hallway.
“Where are they?”.
“Where am I?”.
“I was walking with them a second ago.”
I started running without staring in any direction. My eyes roamed every nook and cranny of the hallway. But the routes went in many separate directions which made it harder for me to understand which direction they had gone into.
I saw a corner and ran towards it, only to bump into someone who came from the other direction and fell on my back.
“Ouch…..” I open my eyes to take a closer look, only to spot a young man around my age standing in front of me.
He had brown hair in curls mixed with some golden strands layering on top of another in short trims reaching up to the back of his neck.
My eyes were drawn towards his eyes, blue just like the reflection of the sea which you can get from outside with the hues in the center.
“Who’s he?”.
“Who are you?” he asked, pointing in my direction.
“I haven’t seen you in this castle ever. Did you come here to help out for the function tomorrow?”.
“Ah, no,” I replied in a low voice.
“I’m-“before I could reply he came closer to me and held his hand towards me as if trying to help me.
I gave a glance at him and reached out my hand as well.
It’s not like he’s going to harm me in any way. I can get some help when I need it, can’t I?
“Thank you,” I replied with a little bit of a smile.
When I was back on my feet, I could look at his face very clearly. He was quite handsome.
Our height difference was quite something. I had to raise my head whenever I had to stare at his face.
My head reached only up to his chest.
I heaved a sigh and noticed that he still has not removed his hand yet.
I gave him a confused look and gazed down at my hand again.
“Um….you can-“.
“You are a human.” He added, moving closer to my neck, sniffing me.
I could feel his breath on my skin.
“What is he trying to do? Just let go of my hand already!”.
When he pulled away, he stared at me with surprised eyes.
“Are you Ivory?” he asked, astonished as ever.
I look up at him meeting his gaze. “Yes. How did you know?”.
“Our sister,” he murmured loud enough for me to hear.
“What? Sister?”.
“Then is he?”.
“I’m Atlas Evans, your new brother,” he added, smiling a little.
“Nice to meet you.”
“My….new brother? I met him right away?”.
Words weren’t coming out of my mouth. I didn’t know how to react to all of this in the first place.
My brother……should I introduce myself? But he knows my name already. Then…..
“Are you alright?” he asked in a worried tone.
I snapped back to reality and stared him in the eyes.
“Ah, yes.”
“I’m fine, nice to meet you.”
“I’m Ivory, call me Ivy or whatever you want.”
“I don’t mind.”
He paused for a second, examining my face which I couldn’t understand why.
“Ivy……” he called as his eyes were focused on my green orbs, locking me in completely.
“Our sister.”
My cheeks suddenly turned red as he called me his sister.
I never had a brother in my life.
This feeling is just weird.
When he calls me like that…I….
Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming our way.
“Ivy!” I heard the faint cry of my mother coming my way.
I glanced around to see her and the maid standing.
Seeing me she ran up to my side, glancing at me and Atlas.
“Ivy, are you alright? Where did you disappear on us suddenly? And who’s he?”.
Atlas glanced down at my hand, noticing how he held onto my wrist, then removed his hand.
“Mom,” I turned to face her.
“He’s my brother.”
“Your brother?” she became a bit puzzled.
She glanced over at Atlas and realized a minute later.
“He’s the First Prince of the Evans Family, Young Master Atlas Evans,” the maid addressed with a bow.
Mom stared at him with a shocked face.
“You are…..”.
“I didn’t notice, sorry-“.
“It’s alright.” He replied with a bit smile.
“This is our first meeting anyway. You must be Ms.Martha, right?”.
She nodded back.
“We were waiting for your arrival. Father is in his room waiting to see you and her.”
“As you weren’t coming I came out to search and met her on the way,” he pointed in my direction.
“Ivy got lost when we were walking and then I was searching for her and then became late.”
“It’s alright.”
“I’m glad you met her on the way. Thank you.”
“It was nothing much. Anyway, let’s go and get father. I’ll accompany you.”
Atlas gave a smile back at me when he said that.
I adverted my eyes right away.
“He’s such a kind person.”
“Thanks for doing this.”
We all followed him and the maid.
“I already met my first brother. I wonder how are the other two.”
