Desperate hands curled around the skirt of a very signature red and white cheerleading uniform that had probably been freshly pressed just that morning. Gavin Locke was a boy who was the epitome of a social outcast in every way. From the top of his head full of shaggy blonde hair, down his oversized jeans, finished with a pair of dirty skateboarding shoes. Not a single part of Gavin fit in.
Well, except for the part that was fitting in with one of the most popular girls at Jonathan Henry High School. It was before homeroom bell a week after the party that had become so out of control, police had shown up. Six people had been arrested for underage drinking and Kaleb Kaideen had practically been assigned to solitary confinement when his parents were contacted on their anniversary weekend away about the big bash. All of this piled on top of the fact that three vicious rumors started that night meant the party was just all that much more epic.
The brunette let out a breathless sigh as she banged her head back against the wall of the empty boiler room. Gavin attacked Sara Wolfe's neck with aggressive kisses. Her hands tightened into his black t-shirt as his started to pull her skirt up a little higher. She moved her hands to dig into his hair, gripping a hand full of messy strands. He was filled with a need to take this further, and he'd be okay with going that far right here in this dirty room.
Gavin had been bringing girls here for the last three year of high school and he knew that the janitor wouldn't be down here until after twelve thirty. And even if he did come down, he and Gavin had a special arrangement. The janitor wasn't going to prove an issue no matter what.
He lifted Sara's feet from the ground and put his hands on the back of her thighs to help her wrap them around his waist. When he pulled his face back a little, hair was falling in his eyes but he smiled at her. Sara was so helplessly wrapped up in Gavin Locke. She tightened her legs around him to help keep herself up and then reached up to flick the strands out of his face. "You're so bad for me, Gavin Locke." She whispered. "Making out in the boiler room.. That's not like me. You should feel lucky."
Gavin lofted a brow at that and then grinned, "Maybe we can both feel lucky." He said, pushing her skirt up a little more and then stepping in so he was pressed right up against her. She hadn't slept with him yet and to be honest, there was a piece of Gavin that was dying to feel her. He was desperate for it, and he didn't care if they were in here, or in a bed, or up against a wall. They had been secretly seeing each other for awhile and to be honest, it didn't really bother Gavin that it was a secret. The sneaking around was kind of fun.
For a moment, Sara thought about giving in. She could do it, she thought. She could see herself giving her body to Gavin Locke right here in this dirty room. She could even deal with finding herself sweaty and disheveled for the rest of the day. But common sense was kicking in and she put her hands on his shoulders, "Gavin. You know we can't. The bell's going to ring any minute." She looked up for a clock but there wasn't one. Why would there be? It's not like people hung out here on a regular basis anyway.
"Skip it."
He said it like it was so easy. "Skip class?" She shook her head, "Everyone would know if I wasn't in school and it would get back to TJ and then I'd have to go through the third degree. Way too much trouble." And TJ was just the beginning of it. If Kaleb found out that she'd skipped school to have s*x, there would be hell to pay. Between he and TJ, she had all the over protection she could stomach sometimes.
"Come on, Sar." He pushed against her again, bringing a little gasp to her lips. "Have a little fun. Skip with me." Leaning in, he tried to tempt her as he brushed his lips along her neck, up to her ear to whisper, "I'll make it worth your while." Then he kissed her lips, deepening it a little while his hands tightened on her hips.
She was putty. She was weak, and she hated admitting it. With a tummy full of nerves and two weak knees, Sara curled her arms around his neck and kissed him back, matching his movements with a deep intensity. What would be so wrong with her skipping one day of school? She could tell TJ she wasn't feeling too well, and when it got to Kaleb, she could always distract him with a pizza or something. Maybe it wouldn't be that hard to skip. As her lips parted to say okay, the bell blared loudly and it made her jump a little, stomach in her throat. She'd forgotten there was a world outside of this.
It gave Sara enough time to get her head back. Bell equals homeroom, homeroom.. First period.. school. She started getting her mind back. Putting her hands on his chest, she turned her head to the side to break the kiss. "Home room. I have to get to home room." Then she looked up at Gavin who had let out a little sigh. Stupid bell, he thought. He'd had Sara ready to leave with him.
"Alright, alright." He sighed as he stepped back and let her down.
She was still wobbly on her feet as if she'd just stepped onto sturdy ground from spending a week in the water. "Trust me, I'd love to go with you but.."
He shook her head and stuffed his hands in his pockets, "Don't finish that sentence. Whatever comes after that but is the reason we're not spending the day together." He nodded his head towards the door, "So go ahead. I'll wait here a few before I leave."
Sara knew this probably wasn't easy for him so she stepped in, cupped his face and gave him another kiss. "Thanks for understanding." Then she grabbed her purse from the spot on the ground that she'd dropped it and hung it over her shoulder. At the door, she looked back for a second and gave him a small wave.
Georgia was reading her book, sitting in the sun with a half drained Starbucks in her hand. Her knees were pulled up to her chest. She was hiding, as usual, behind the top of the book that was balanced on her thighs and she tried to look like she wasn't looking for Savannah. The part was still fresh in her mind, Savannah had fallen asleep pretty much the second she walked through the door of the house. It unnerved Georgia, the way her cousin was acting like nothing at all had happened. Savannah should have some kind of reaction. There was a natural progression of events when something like this happened. Anger, shame, distrust…isolation. She pressed her back further against the tree she was leaning against when a group of kids walked by.
The words on the page of the book blurred but she wasn't really reading them, averting her eyes so no one spoke to her. She knew Sara and Kaleb, the two most popular kids in the school, and when kids she didn't know spoke to her, it was because they wanted an invitation to a party, not because they wanted to be her friend. She waited until they walked past to pull out her phone and call Savannah for about the nine hundredth time.
The phone rang once before Savannah flopped down in the grass beside her.
