Isabella.
Jack and Jacob had brushed their teeth, got changed and gone to bed in record time. Normally there would be tantrums, constant demands for a drink, needing the toilet or wanting another story. Basically anything to delay going to bed. However they were so excited to be going hunting for "Pirate Treasure" tomorrow that they had made no fuss whatsoever.
I'd just been to check on them and they were both fast asleep.
I'd ordered another bottle of wine and I was now sat out on the balcony watching as the last orange and red wisps of the sun dip behind the ocean. This is the life, I thought as I took another sip of my wine. I couldn't remember the last time I'd felt so relaxed and I have to admit that now, as I sat here by myself enjoying my wine and watching the sunset, I was glad that Marcus hadn't come with us.
With the boys day planned for tomorrow, I could take some time for myself and if Marcus had been here he would of probably been restrictive of what I would of been allowed to do.
I sigh as I take another sip of wine and think back to just after we first meet, how caring and loving he was. He choose to be with me despite all the girls who were fawning over him.
FLASHBACK.
I glanced at the clock and let out an exasperated sigh. Only another 5 minutes till detention was over. I glanced at Mr Henderson who was scowling in my direction. I have no idea why he's got it in for me but I knew that this detention was inevitable when I was late for his class after colliding with Marcus in the hall today.
" Well Isabella." he said to me in a condescending voice. " I hope that today's detention, will have helped to remind you that I expect my students to be punctual for my class."
"Yes sir. I'm sorry I was late. I promise it won't happen again" I replied as politely as I possibly could.
"Very well, you may go now".
I quickly packed my books and pens into my bag, before he had chance to change his mind and hurried towards the door. As I exited the classroom, I was shocked to see Marcus, stood leaning against the wall opposite. "What are you doing here?" I asked him as I walked towards him.
"Well I heard that you got detention today after you bumped into me and were late" he replied sounding guilty. "So I thought I'd wait for you to get out and take you for something to eat as an apology"
I shrugged my shoulders at him. "Wasn't your fault really" I said. " I shouldn't cut it so close and end up having to run to class"
"Even so, I'm taking you out for some food and I'm not taking no for an answer"
" Well if it makes you feel better"
"It will" he flashed a smile at me, showing me his bright white teeth.
" Ok but I will have to stop by my house to get changed first" I said to him quickly.
" What you're wearing is perfect"
I blushed at his words. I didn't really need to change but I did need to go home to take my medication. I didn't want him to know that though. He was the first guy who had looked my way and I didn't want to put him off me by divulging my medical issues.
" Thats very sweet of you to say but I've been in these clothes all day and I would like to change."
" Lets get going then"
After I'd gone home and taken my pill, I'd changed my clothes as I had to in order for my story to stick.
Now we were sat in a cute little seafood restaurant sharing a platter of food. Every time I'd looked in Marcus's direction he had been gazing at me. He suddenly reached out and took my hand in his and I felt butterfly's dance in my belly.
" Ever since you ran into me today, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you" he whispered leaning in close to my ear. His warm breath tickled my neck and ear and I felt goosebumps prickling my skin. " You are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on" he continued.
END OF FLASHBACK.
A lone tear escapes my eye and I quickly wipe it away. Why am I getting emotional? I ask myself. It must be the wine. Or is it because I'm feeling nostalgic for the time when Marcus used to look at me like I was the only woman in the whole world. Like the mystery man had done earlier by the pool and again out in the corridor. There's no way I can tell Marcus there's another man on this floor. He took care of the booking and purposely booked this room on this floor as there were less rooms and less of a chance I'd be near to any other men. I just hoped the boys were having too good of a time to have even noticed he was looking in my direction. What was it about that man? I loved my husband but the mystery man had made me feel... No I shouldn't even be thinking about him!
I picked up the leaflet that listed the excursions and treatments and browsed through it, thinking it might distract me from thinking about Marcus and more importantly the mystery man. A few jumped out at me. An hours jetskiing, a full body massage, a day trip out on a boat and guided tour of the island. I picked up the phone and called down to the desk.
" Hello, its Mrs Orlain here. I was wondering if I could book onto the jetskiing tomorrow for 12pm please?"
"Certainly Mrs Orlain. I will do that for you now. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
" Actually, yes I would also like to book a massage for 2pm. I've never been jetskiing before and I might need to relax after" I laughed.
" No problem thats all done. Goodnight"
I thank them and hang up the phone.
"What have I gotten myself into?" I say out loud to myself. " I hope they have life vests or I might end up drowning. Who organises for themselves to jet ski when they can't swim?"
I finish the last bit of my wine and make my way back inside my room. I quickly change for bed and pop my head in the boys room to check on them one last time before I head to my bedroom. Judging by the cute little snores that are coming from both of them, they are both still flat out.
I climb into my bed and close my eyes, feeling both excited and nervous for the next day.
I drift off to sleep quickly, dreaming of the mystery man.
