ch 18 challenge

Emma walked into the arena and looked around. the crowd filled the seats and they were packed. the sounds of their talking was defining. the council sat in a box up front perched to watch every part of the arena. the room was lit by sky light and the sun came through shining directly in the middle where the battle would happen. Colin walked with Emma down to her side as he watched Rhaelynn on the opposite side. her father was whispering in her ear. Colin had no doubt her father was telling her to play dirty. Colin leaned into Emma kissing her and whispering on her lips. " remember they play dirty. watch yourself." he went to take his seat and turned around, " Emma, I love you." then he was gone.

Emma took a deep breath and let it out as she made her way down to the arena floor. she glanced at the people that had amassed to watch their pregnant future queen fight someone for the title. Rhaelynn came up in leggings and a sports bra for comfort and better movement while Emma came in her sun dress with slits up both thighs. being pregnant and due any second meant not much fit her anymore. Rhaelynn gave Emma a smirk as she shoulder checked Emma. the crowd booed as she threw her hands up faking innocence. the referee took Rhaelynn aside telling her behavior wasn't authorized. Emma could see Rhaelynn arguing against him. finally both opponents were brought to the circle. Emma rubbed her swollen belly. "Renee I know this is unorthodox but I trust you. keep our babies safe." Emma talked to her wolf.

" don't worry Emma. we will only need to half shift. that way we both have control and we don't kill her." Emma's wolf purred in her head. Rhaelynn took great satisfaction in what was about to happen.

" Emma you should back down now if you want to keep those mutts alive. I won't have mercy just because you are pregnant. "

" Rhaelynn. we will show you the same mercy you show us. I don't want to hurt you but I can not back down." Emma made her plea but Rhaelynn laughed in her face.

" the only thing I want Emma is your title. nothing else matters!" Rhaelynn yelled so loud her voice echoing into the crowd as they all fell silent.

" that's all it is ever about for those that do not deserve it. power hunger and greed. " Emma shrugged her shoulders as she watched Rhaelynn circling her waiting to pounce. " you couldn't handle the power that comes with being in a position of power. your heart is not true to the people only to yourself."

Rhaelynn laughed at Emma. " you think I can't handle it? I can handle the power and the wealth that comes with it. " Rhaelynn's eyes glazed over as she lunged at Emma. Emma moved out of the way effortlessly. this angered Rhaelynn even more as she retaliated lunging at Emma from behind. Emma moved easily once again.

Emma shook her head at Rhaelynn in pity. " you think of the wealth but not what you must give. you are queen of the people not of yourself. you are supposed to be for the subjects in which you rule over. you are not better than them. as queen you are no better than. your weakest wolf. you are no better than the poor and hungry. all the wealth in the world means nothing if you can not sympathize with the hungriest in your kingdom. " Emma watched as Rhaelynn circled her some more snarling at Emma in anger, disgust and lust for money.

" you dumb b***h!!! the people do as I say!! I would be their queen. I would rule them!" Rhaelynn lunged at Emma swiping a hand and catching her face. Emma stumbled to the ground her lip bleeding. Colin jumped to his feet. Emma shook her head at him. he sat back down uneasy about watching the fight. " awe what's wrong Emma? finding it hard to fight in your condition?" Emma wiped the blood from her lip.

Rhaelynn crouched down grabbing a handful of dirt throwing it at Emma's face then kicking Emma in the back as she turned. Emma went down for a brief moment. when she rose from the ground her eyes were blurry and stinging from the dirt. she tore a strip of her dress and tied it around her eyes. she was going blind. she stilled listening to the sounds. drowning out the noise of the crowd and focusing in on the breathing of Rhaelynn and her heart beat. she could hear the wind splitting as Rhaelynn went to punch her again. focusing deep she moved easily to the side. Emma could feel the pain from the grit in her eyes starting to ease. again staying in her stance she hyper focused in on the sounds Rhaelynn made as she moved and the beats her heart made. she heard Rhaelynn heart speed up just before the sound of her shifting to her wolf. Emma knew she could shift easily and allow her wolf's eyes take over so that hers could rest and heal. Without warning she shifted and removed the strip of blind fold. Emma's wolf watched Rhaelynn as she grabbed something from the side of her leg.

silver dagger Emma. be careful. could hurt the pups. Emma mentally nodded to her wolf acknowledging her. " a silver dagger. taking cheating to an entirely knew level there Rhaelynn." Emma scolded Rhaelynn as she kept just out of her reach. Emma could see Colin now pacing back and forth nervously.

" win at all costs right!" Emma shook her head in disbelief.

" if you stop this now I will have mercy on you. " Emma was trying to give Rhaelynn a way out. Rhaelynn laughed maniacally at Emma. she had become crazed with anger and power. Emma sighed.

out of nowhere Rhaelynn lunged forward catching Emma's wolf in the arm with the silver dagger. Emma shifted back to human form and Colin quickly threw her his shirt to cover her naked body. the wound not healing. Rhaelynn slashed Emma's leg as she lunged once more. Emma crying out in pain when the silver touched her skin. jumping from the ground Emma winced in pain but held her defensive stance. "I have to think of a plan of attack Renee. we can't take much more of the silver."

" we can allow our gifts to work for us. there are no rules against it." Renee spoke with pain in her voice.

" you're hurt...." Emma knew her gifts were what she needed now. " ok let's get this fight over with. these babies are depleting my energy." Emma's eyes flashed a glowing white as she brought her palms together. Rhaelynn's eyes grew wide as she saw the glowing ball of light between Emma's hands. Rhaelynn lunged forward with her silver dagger. Emma released her light into Rhaelynn stopping her in her tracks. Rhaelynn screamed out in fear as she levitate in the air. Emma's eyes still glowing white her voice sounded out almost ghostly angelic " stop now and you live. I will have mercy."

"I will never concede. " Rhaelynn looked eerily calm as she raised her hand above her head and threw the dagger as hard as she could towards Emma. Emma raised her hand stopping the dagger just before it slammed into her. with a wave of her hand the dagger fell to the ground with a small thud. Rhaelynn fought against the light that kept her from attacking. Emma released her and she fell to the ground. she slowly grabbed the knife and lunged blindly towards Emma with the dagger in hand. Emma stopped her again forcing Rhaelynn to turn the dagger on herself.

" please stop so you can live!" Emma yelled at Rhaelynn. " please don't do this!" Emma was begging Rhaelynn. Rhaelynn laughed at Emma again looking her dead in Emma's eyes.

" I won't " Rhaelynn said evilly. Rhaelynn with one last ditch effort tried to break free and lunge at Emma. in a moment of weakness Emma had let her guard down and Rhaelynn broke free. Emma lifted her hand throwing a light source into Rhaelynn. she fell to the ground screaming in agony with no visible injuries. people came running towards them as Rhaelynn continued to scream her face looked haunted. it was then that she noticed Rhaelynn's father was standing over her along with the rest of the council.

" what did you do to my daughter! what the f**k is this!" he looked at Emma in hatred.

" I made her live in her own heart whether good or bad." Emma's eyes are no longer white. " she chose this fate for herself. she can chose to come out of it as well." Emma was lifted off the ground by two arms carrying her away as Rhaelynn father ran back to his daughter as she continued to scream in her agony living inside her own blackness. Colin held her close to his bare chest.

" Emma, are you ok?" she smiled up at Colin and nodded. " baby I was worried I couldn't keep calm I'm sorry!" he walked to where he had been sitting before holding Emma on his lap. " we have to wait for the councils decision. " Emma nodded in understanding as she snuggled into his neck breathing in his calming scent. they both watched as Rhaelynn was brought out of the arena screaming. the council went back to their seats as they talked amongst themselves. there was fighting going on and it had gotten heated amongst them.

Colin wrapped his arms around Emma tighter as they waited. the council convened and the eldest cleared his throat. Emma and Colin held their breath as he still kept his arms around her. " it is determined that we announce the title of queen. it is with much debate but we are legally bound to uphold the laws of our people. " he looked nervously at the council as he paused before announcing a queen. taking a deep sigh, " We as the council would like to announce king Colin and his mate queen Emma. " with this announcement he bowed his head while someone came holding her crown. Colin rose from the seat still holding Emma in his arms as he smiled down at her they made their way towards the elder council. he kneeled on one knee and Emma followed him as the elder councilman placed the crowns on both of their heads. both of their hands were raised in the air as they stood and turned towards the crowd. " I now announce you both King and queen. "

Colin reached out wrapping his hand in her hair as he pulled her close to him. " my queen, " he smiled at her. " I love you." he smashed his lips into hers and deepened the kiss between them. she pulled back suddenly with shock on her face. " what's wrong?"

Emma felt a stream of liquid rush down her legs as pain ripped through her abdomen. " my water broke!" she gripped his arms tight as another pain ripped through her. " Colin, get the dr. the babies are coming!" and with that she let another scream escape her lips.
