I found myself pacing up and down the hallway, every nerve in my body strung as tightly as a coil. I could barely believe that all of this was actually happening, that in a few minutes, I would be able to do nothing other than stand before the council as they decided my future here in Atlantis. It wasn’t such a big deal, for my future had always been decided for me here in Atlantis. But after experiencing the independence that the Mainland had provided to me, there was something in my chest that didn’t feel at peace with a group of elders telling me what they believed was best for me. All their lives, they had been sheltered, and kept here on Atlantis. If everything had gone their way, the exact same thing would have happened to me. And perhaps staying in Atlantis wasn’t such a bad thing
