How could you have done anything so damnable as to leave without telling me who you were?” He did not wait for her answer, but kissed her again. After what seemed a very long time, she managed to ask, “H-how did you – manage to – find me?” He smiled before he replied, “If I can find precious stones, gold and a dozen other things, do you imagine I could not find you, however difficult you made it?” “But – you are – here!” “I am here,” he said, “but it might have been far more difficult had you not left your father’s book behind.” Belinda gave a little cry.
