I gasped when someone bumped into me. The blond guy arrogantly raised his brow and grinned. "Watch where you are going."
That made me raise my brow higher than his. "Whoa, it was you who was walking backward." I rolled my eyes and continued walking.
I even heard him calling me "b***h”, which made me frown in disgust. As if he even looks cool. Why do I even have to bump an ass this early? Am I a bad person?
I looked around and found out that kids here are really liberated, and they also look mean and spoiled brats. It looks like there is no place for nerds and the weak here. God better bless me.
There are luxurious cars parked too, and I can say that this school has many brats, yeah? I heard rumors about this school that they do not care more about anything but good grades. Like you can do all you want, but not to any school facilities and stuff. As long as you can keep your grades high, it is fine. You can ditch classes, but make sure to have an A plus in exams. You can make out with anyone anywhere, but make sure you can answer an essay, and you can even take your clothes off here as long as you get to answer your professor in class. Those are ridiculous. I cannot really fathom whether I want those to be true. Well, right now, I can say that they are not really strict regarding discipline.
"Goodness gracious, they better have a nice library here," I whispered when I saw two dickheads taunting each other for a fight before going to the cashier.
I need to see my schedule; I need to determine if God wants to test my tardiness.
…
"Two corn dogs please," I said softly, and paid for them.
"You can wait at the table, dear." The old lady smiled, and it reminded me of my grandma.
I walked to the tables without any hesitation. Gosh, I am hungry. I never thought I had to wait in line for more than an hour just to get a freakin' piece of paper.
Okay, I hate this. I hate that there is no breakfast ready and waiting to be devoured on my table. I miss my grandma more and how she makes a good meal for us.
That reminds me; I better buy groceries later to feed myself.
My corn dogs arrived and smelt really tasty, so I grabbed one and took a mouthful. And I cussed myself loudly when I realized it was so damn hot. I swear I wanted to spill it off. Still, I do not want to put myself in a shameful situation. So I gently chew it, gasping for air each time with my eyes being teary. You're so intelligent, Veronica.
"Whoa Ezikell! Nice to see you again, dumb ass!"
I frowned when a troop of guys talked loudly near my table. They are cussing, chanting, and shouting like they had seen a Hollywood artist. Really? Do they miss each other so much?
I turned to look at them with a frown and noticed that the arrogant blond guy was in the troops… together with Kell. They are talking to him and asking questions while he answers them proudly. I noticed that I was not the only one looking at them; almost all the people in this food square were looking at them.
"Hey Nica."
I tightly closed my eyes when he noticed me and even called me. I do not want be exposed. And this guy here sure is popular.
I just smiled at him and continued eating my food.
I flinched in shock when someone sat beside me, and I knew it was Kell.
"You seem exhausted." He chuckled.
I wanted to roll my eyes at that. "Who would not? I spent more than an hour trying to pay at that school." I pointed to the university across.
"You should have told Hiro or me. Well, we just walked straight to the cashier and paid. Easy as pie." He said with a smile, saying there was nothing new about that.
"What?" I snapped. "That's unfair." I know they arrived way earlier than them. How come they just walked straight to the cashier?
"Whoa, chill." He raised his hands up and chuckled. "The girl in the registrar has a big crush on Hiro. That is why." He shook his head. "That's how business works; connections."
My blood boiled at that. I impatiently waited in a long line, and I just knew special treatment happened in that school. That is absurd!
"That is a school!" I said aloud. "Not a business."
"How certain are you?"
I stared at him for seconds, letting him know I was irritated. Until he looked away and rolled his eyes playfully. This guy is a slaphappy person. Or I am just being too judgmental again.
"Don't be like that. Here…" Kell showed his phone.
"What will I do with that?" I immediately shot back.
"Wait…" he said while laughing at my impatience. "Let's call Hiro, who is still inside, fixing my enrollment, and see how we can help you."
"I do not need it."
"You do. As much as you need to eat. I heard your stomach growling." He seriously said before dialing a number.
I looked away, still upset about the business that had happened, so I busied myself eating.
"Dude, where are you?" I looked at Kell with that, and he was looking at me too like he was expecting that. "I am at the Cecile Square, in front of the corn dog stall to be exact… with Nica." He showed me a malicious grin after saying my name.
How can Hiro stay low-blooded with this type of brother? He looks annoying. I am pulling my words when I say he is sweet. Screw that.
I can sense that people, students, are talking about me. Maybe because I am with this gorgeous but annoying Rivera?
Just when I was about to finish my last bite of the corn dog, a tall and gorgeous policeman appeared in my sight.
Everything seems to settle upon seeing a guy in a police uniform walking straight to us with confidence and humbleness at the same time.
"Hi." He greeted me and took a seat in front of me.
I just nodded. And I badly wanted to slap the guy beside me when he told Hiro how upset I was because of the unfair treatment that happened. It ended when he was looking at me with a smile like he was amazed.
"You know, I could help you finish your enrollment easier and faster," Hiro said with no hint of arrogance in his voice but concern. "I already went to the bank, took a bath, and you're not done yet. I- I just wanna help." He smiled more innocently.
I looked at his face, then down to his big strong hands. I cannot look him in the eyes.
"Aren't you busy?" I asked instead.
"I will not be." He answered that made me think about how he answered me.
"Just say 'yes,' Nica. He would be a great help," Kell interrupted.
I glanced at Hiro, and his genuine smile never left his face. "If you do not mind my question… how?"
"How?" His eyes narrowed while smiling innocently.
"How come you have such connections like… you know?"
They both laughed at that.
"Hiro studied in that school too. That policeman in front of us is a campus crush because of his smirk and voice," Kell said mischievously.
I furrowed my brows at that. "Huh?"
"Don't 'huh' me. Wait 'til you hear Hiro sing, and you'll know why the faculty loves him." He answered and drank from his juice. Where the hell did he get that?
"He is kidding," Hiro said, so my attention diverted to him. "I was the Supreme Government Council president for my years studying there. That is why I know a lot of people there."
"Guess I am out of here." Kell stands wearing his sinful smile.
"You wouldn't do anything stupid, Ezikell, or I will put you in jail myself," Hiro warns gently.
Really? He warns that gentle? Does he even know how to be pissed?
"Yes, my brother." He said with a British accent.
"You sing?" I asked after watching Kell find his way out with his friends.
"Well," he answered like he was ashamed. "I, I do."
I was about to speak, but he spoke again.
"Can we go out on a date?"
I was taken aback by his question. "I told you I have a guy."
His eyes softened at that. "I know. But I have a different feeling every time I see you… or even just thinking of you."
I shook my head. "I have my boyfriend. I love him. I could see him spending his life with me for a lifetime."
His gentle smile completely vanished when I said lifetime. "Sure. You deserve someone like him… who can spend forever with you."
"Look, Mr. Officer…" I sighed, trying to compose a nice segment for him. "You sure are handsome. Every girl would strip in front of you, but not me.
"I am sorry. I just really like you this much. It's like… I would do anything just to be your man."
