CHAPTER 43

Bella

The next morning, after waking up, I headed first to check up on my baby girl. When I got out of my room, the strong scent of freshly made coffee and a mix of toast, bacon, and eggs hit my nose. Gabriel had Athena in his arms and looked at me with a broad smile on his face and then said, “Good morning, my love. I hope you slept well. Our princess and I definitely did. How about you go wash up and come have your breakfast before it gets cold. I’ll take care of our princess till you’re done and then I want to head out for a run” So, rubber mouth here, is all chirpy this early in the morning and stood in front of me looking smoking hot! His training vest showed off his god-like form, and those super sexy muscles looked like they were going to rip the vest to shreds. His body looked even better than before. I was shamelessly gawking and most probably drooling over the eye candy in front of me, and he was enjoying every bit of it! I silently scolded myself to pull myself together and to stop boosting his ego!

I cleared my throat and looked towards the kitchen and said, “I didn’t know you could cook” and he started bragging that he is, in fact, an excellent cook. He went on to say that he would be taking over the cooking while he’s here since I had a lot on my plate. He already knew that I was working at the bakery and that I was allowed to take Athena with me. It’s just out front anyways, and Erica had chosen an area of the bakery and turned it into a special and safe place for her so that we could always keep our eyes on her even while we worked. It’s still early days, and I could not let Gabriel take care of her on his own.

“Are you going out running, dressed like that?” I wanted to slap myself for allowing that question to slip out of my mouth! He pretended to look surprised and answered “Yes, my love, why? What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? It’s hot out there, and this is suitable wouldn’t you say?” Great! He answers me with questions. Yea, he’s right, it’s hot, DAMN HOT! And my body is feeling the heat too! I rolled my eyes and turned to go wash up and sarcastically said, “So long as you don’t come back with coyotes following you with hanging tongues” I could hear him laughing and probably feeling all proud of himself for getting me to react like that!

I could not fault him with the breakfast, it was really good. He went and put on a zip up, light, training jacket and told me he was heading out for a quick run but before he left he said, “Have you forgotten that I told you my body is for only your viewing pleasure and nobody else’s my love? I wasn’t planning on going out running without my jacket, I love getting you all worked up” He gave Athena and I quick pecks on our foreheads and rushed off. I will definitely get him back for putting me through that!

I was done getting Athena ready when Gabriel came back from his run. He didn’t want to come near us without showering first. When he was done, I told him that we were heading out to the Bakery and asked if he’d like to pop by during the day to introduce himself to Erica. He said that he would, and before we left, he asked if I was okay with him getting a few things for the flat. I told him to knock himself out, to do whatever he wanted. He had a naughty school boy grin on and then said, “Really? I could do ANYTHING I want?” And before I could answer, he quickly said “I’d like to do this” and gave me a passionate kiss. Yes, I enjoyed it. Too much actually, but I pretended to be irritated and told him that I meant he could do whatever he wanted with the flat, not me. He just let out a mischievous laugh.

Erica behaved as though she hadn’t seen us for such a long time and was so excited when we walked in. After exchanging greetings, she started throwing questions at me. I asked her to calm down and promised I would give her a full run down of yesterday’s dramas once we’re done prepping for our day ahead. Once we got through the morning rush of customers and started with the special orders, I started telling her about everything that happened. “You mean ‘that Knight’ is still in your flat as we speak? Ohhhh my God, I have to meet him” she said, all excited. I told her to relax. He would pop in later to introduce himself.

It was going onto lunchtime, and still no sign of Gabriel, I thought of going and checking up on him but then decided against it. I didn’t want to get in his way and disturb whatever it was that he was so busy with. Erica had fed Athena and put her down for her nap, and we sat down to have the takeout we ordered for lunch. “So what’s your plans? I mean ‘that Knight’ is not going to want to live in the flat long term” she asked me. I told her that I honestly didn’t know yet but what I do know is that I am still madly in love with him but I’m enjoying playing with him and making him think I am not interested in a relationship with him just yet. She then warned me not to push him away and end up with regrets.

It was late afternoon, and we were cleaning up and getting ready to close up shop when Gabriel walked in. His eyes toured the bakery, and he looked very impressed. He came over to me and, in a flirtatious voice, said, “Hi there beautiful, can I have a few, mix, of those delicious looking cupcakes?” “Sure, sir, care to point out the ones you fancy?” I teased. Erica chuckled softly at our behavior, made her way towards us, and introduced herself. Gabriel did the same, and it didn’t take long for them to start chatting and joking about as though they had known each other for years. I was overjoyed that they hit it off. I had packed up the cupcakes Gabriel chose and got Athena’s stuff. He was carrying her, and we were about to head out when Neo came in. When they saw each other, it was like time stood still! Gabriel had a livid look on his face while Neo had an apologetic one. Gabriel put his free hand around my waist and told me we had to go! Erica and I just looked at each other, totally confused, and she mouthed that she would call me later, and I tried to keep up as Gabriel rushed us out of there!
