The File

Hawk's POV After Amber had breakfast, I carried her out to the porch. She settled on the swing, as her green eyes lit up with excitement as she began to watch the training. It appeared everyone was training in their respective forms. Mato's massive bear huffed, walking a long a line of wolves and bears. They squared off and proceeded to fight in their sections. I noticed Amber would glance my way from time to time. "Your not training?" I heard her voice ask me. "No, I am on duty." I looked at her to see a surprised look. "On duty?" I watched her raised her eyebrows. "Yes, I am guarding you Ma Cháñte." I turned and couldn't help the smirk. "Oh," She said as she looked at her lap. She glanced back at the training. She glanced back to ask. "Are you a bear like Mato?" You could see she was curious, her emotions of full display. "I am none of those." I smirked. "I am a one of a kind." I winked at her. "Just like you." I didn't want to say I was a demon that every supernatural was afraid of. We watched the training disperse, people took off in different directions. The human cook came out with a tray full of sliced cheese, meats and fruits. Handing it to Amber, he headed back to the kitchen to get the lunch service ready. She nibbled some of the fruits and made mini sandwiches out of the meat and cheese. I seen her glance my way and looked down at the tray. "There is way to much here for me." She shrugged, "if you want to help me eat it?" She smiled. I couldn't say no to that smile. I stood, walking over there I picked up two strawberries. I plopped one in my mouth, turning to sit down. I normally didn't eat. I let the beast feed, so this was a new experience, well at least a thousand year difference. Last time I had strawberries was before I just let the beast feed when he wanted to. I had no one to worry about and being so connected to the beast gave me an upper hand in most of my killing. I heard, Mato walk up the stairs, a pair of sweats, "I am headed to my office if you want to check that file." He glanced at Amber, I seen a fatherly look flash across his face. "Momma Dee should be along for your tea time." He smiled at her. "I will be there, once Momma Dee, gets here." I spoke glancing at Amber too. She was to busy looking around and following what the other people were doing. He nodded to me, and continued into the house. I stood and leaned against the railing. A couple of the young girls had come up to ask Amber questions about their wolves. "Your wolves were beautiful!" Amber squealed. I seen her glance up and me pausing a moment before going back to the chat. I seen Momma Dee come up, the girls scattered as Momma Dee appeared. Everyone was laughing. I found it odd, the whole thing. I had not witnessed this in ages. I started to head into the house when I heard Amber ask, "Hawk your going?" Her eyes showed she was worried. "I am just going to see a file Mato has for me." I gave her a wink. "I will hear if anything happens." Glancing at Momma Dee, "I will be back before dinner." I smirked. "Ok," I her heard say. I noticed her shoulders fell. I continued my walk to the door of Mato's office. Knocking I waited. "come in," I opened the door to see his back to the window, shelves on both sides below were filing cabinets lining underneath the shelves. He sat behind a big oak desk and a lap top stationed just to his right side. A large file at least three inches thick sat before him. He motioned for me to sit. I sat in the high wood backed chair. "This is her file," Mato stated, shoving the massive folder forward to me. "There are 47 transfers here." he muttered. You could see he had issues with the contents inside. I reached up grabbing the file. Opening it on the end of his desk I started skimming through it slowly. Taken at 6... her blood tastes best with fear induction.... unknown supernatural... quick healing... virginity taken at 10... good use as portable blood bag... cannot reproduce.... internal scaring beyond repair.... fear response lessening blood tasting poorly.... recommend killing if no other buyers.... Below was a list that was hand written, 39 vampires, all young by their names, two trolls, 4 wizards, one Southern wolf and a were cat. I looked back up to Mato. You could see he didn't have to read it again. to be upset. "The Southern wolf is dead." Mato grunted. He leaned back, glancing at something then turned his attention to me. "The Lyican Princess's mate killed him." He paused to look again out the window. "Why?" I asked. "That wolf was going to kill the Princess." He grunted. I understood that, "The rest are alive?" I asked. "That is my understanding." Mato nodded. Looking out the window, he sighed. "It seems that you having left her has made her sad." Mato turned to look at me. gesturing for me to come look myself. I got up and walked to the window. I could see her on the porch swing, the sag in her shoulders as she kept looking at the door. How interesting, I thought. She missed my presence. I noticed the file did not say what she was either. "Thank you for letting me see the file." I nodded to Mato. I walked back around and stood at the door. "I will head back out to the porch." I knew Mato understood, what was going on. He had had a mate. I walked the hallway to the back door, I stood just out of sight to see her eyes look and then go back to Momma Dee's. She nodded and they chatted about different things. I could see she was learning. Having been not taught she was understanding the world for the first time. As I stood in the doorway, I seen Mato come out of the office, "patrol said they caught the scent of some people." There was a growl in his chest. "You stay, I and a few others will go see to it." "I don't like shying away from a fight but it could be a distraction." I glanced at the forest. I felt power stalled there. I looked from the power spot to Mato. He understood. Power I was looking that would likely feed Lilth. I had no reason not to worry. I had been granted powers that no one but Lilth could take away. "I will inform the patrols you will go check" Mato added once he realized there was someone waiting for the distraction. ******** Hi! I wanted to do a double update on here as the one before that is a flash back to the night Hawk brought her in from the woods. What do you think will happen? Let me know in the comments! Much thanks and hugs! M. Merrill *********
