No Need to Worry

Amber's POV I couldn't stop myself from looking at the door wondering when Hawk would come back out. I had no idea why I was so drawn to him. I was really trying to pay attention to what Momma Dee was saying. But my attention kept being drawn back to the door way Hawk had left to go talk to Mato. I was still confused about why I felt so at ease about him being around me. I smelled horse and leather, my eyes instantly darted to the door way. I seen nothing, confused I glanced at Mato's office window. Smelling it flow around me I looked back to the door. I seen him standing just in side. I could not see his face in the shadow but knew he was not looking at me. The woods was my best guess. ******** Hawk's POV ******** I had left Mato's office. I was standing in the door way looking at her, watching her watch the door way. I was hoping it was for me, but I wasn't sure. The wind carried the scent of magic, old magic. I started looking at the tree line, I had a feeling this was one of those hired assassins from V. I could feel my beast stir. I looked back at her, she seemed defeated. Not even paying attention to what Momma Dee was saying. I walked out to see her attention turn to me as soon as I stepped into the fading sunlight. I seen her green eyes sparkle. I smiled, those eyes looked the color of the forests I ran as a child. I could get lost in them. I heard the humming, I glanced back at the tree line. Yep, I knew who this was. This was an old witch and wizard combo. I had no idea how they were still together. They fought constantly. I walked over to Amber, I knelt down next to her, "Ma Cháñte, I need to go handle something. I will be back in time to take you to dinner." I smiled at her, I could see the sadness appear. I placed my hand on hers, "I promise, there is nothing in this world that can stop me." I gave her a wink. I turned slightly stepping a bit closer to Mato, "place security around the house. I don't think anyone else is around but just on the off chance." Looking back at Amber, I still could see her worry. But walked forward and down the stairs. I pulled my hair free, putting the band on my arm I ran towards the woods. As soon as the trees covered me I changed. My beast was as feral as it was primitive. I released a howl of excitement. I relished the kill, it was who I had become. Everyone, knew who I was, my howl was one of legend. It didn't matter who you were my howl would send a shiver down your spine faster then any horror movie you could. The black paws of my beast pounded the forest floor, my red eyes searched the woods for their scent or their power trail. It was not long before I found the females. She was a young witch just a few hundred years old. Her soul rotted with the stench of the dark magic she tapped into. I wasted no time, running right through her circle of protection my teeth coated mouth picked up her body. The resounding snap I heard as I kept going allowed the blood to flow into my mouth. I bit down the rest of the way snapping her in half. I, again started to look for her mate. The Judge they called him he would do a fake trial and then allow his woman to sacrifice the person or creature. He was older a by a few hundred years. Opening my mouth the remains of her body fell, I continued my fast pace. My eyes seen his power trail he was old enough to feed Lilth which was good. I followed the power trail to see him standing just out front of the house. Mato was standing at the head of a semi circle of his fighters. They formed a line between the house and the Judge. I slowed, it had been a while since I fought in human form. I always fed the beasts blood lust. Amber I could see was still on the porch. Momma Dee still next to her. I changed back. Walking from the woods My clothes still intact. I made my way to the group. Stopping I was between Mato and the Judge. "Cacodemon," the Judge cooed at me. "Here to help me?" There was a sinister look in his eye. "I am here for a personal job." I glanced at Mato. He was coiled, ready to fight. "If you want, help me and I will give you a cut of the profits." the Judge smirked. "There is only one person here I need to find." I raised my black brow allowing my eyes to take on the red of my beast. I watched as he turned to looked at me mouth a gape, fear dazed his eyes as he looked into mine. Placing my hand on his chest I tapped once, then twice. I pulled his soul through his mouth out as it swirled and lifted up into the air. I heard his frail scream leave his husk and it fell to the ground twitching. "Did not know you could do that." Huffed Mato. "I don't do it often, but with Amber watching this was the better then her seeing my beast." I glanced back at her. Her hands covering her mouth and tension in her shoulders. "Your shirt has blood, take it off and we will have it washed." Mato held out his hand. "I guess that was his witch Tiff?" He asked. "It was." I shrugged the shirt off leaving me in the tank underneath. Mato waded it up making sure the blood was not seen. I followed behind him. Climbing the stairs, I seen her look at my chest. She lowered her eyes and I seen her ears turn red knowing she was blushing. "See, ready to take you to dinner," I knelt down to see her face pink in mid-blush. "Ok," She breathed out with a squeak. Smiling was foreign to me. But it seemed to happen when I was close to her. I stood, "ready?" I asked. "Yes," she breathed, lifting her knees up to allow me to scoop her into my arms. The electric shock of her touching my skin made me suck in a breath. Closing my eyes I realized how quick the beast in me wanted to come forward. It wasn't the kill, it was excitement that brought him forward. I gulped hard. Taking a moment to push him down and breathe.
