Chapter 2 : The Hardest Day Of My Life

I still remember that day and it was still fresh in my mind.

The hardest day in my life which I lose her right in front of my eyes.

I promised to pick her up at the audition place, but I was kind of late that time since my class ended a little bit late from it was supposed to be. There was a crowd of people in the middle of the road as I arrived at the place, making me hardly to park my bike in front of the building So, I went to the opposite road since I saw there was an empty parking lot there.

*distinct voices*

I saw several people from the pedestrian lane crossed the road and went to the crowd of people which I guess there was an accident just happened before I reach here. I looked around and still didn’t saw any sign of Mia coming out from that building.

Where is she anyway?

I thought I was already late.

Honestly, I have felt so uneasy since last night. I tried to ignore it but I can’t since it troubled me so much. I took off my helmet then put it on my motorbike as I hopped off from it. I walked across the road to wait for her at the front of the building but my paces stopped as heard two women were talking with each other in panic.

Woman 1: Oh my God!!!

Woman 2: Was it a girl?!

I don’t know why but my feet just brought me towards the crowded of people. My heart raced with my breath became shortened from usual when saw the feet of the victim. I couldn’t see her face because there was a big guy in front of me who blocked my way, and yes it is a girl since she was wearing girls’ boots.

Wait a minute!

I know that boots!!!

Noo…nooo, this can’t be.

Please....please don't do this to me.

Please....it cannot be her!

Damnit!!!!

I pushed away the big guy to check on the girl and my heart shattered into pieces when saw she was Mia.

Man 1: Did anyone call for ambulance?!!

Man 2: Catch that driver!!! He's trying to run away!!!

My knees were trembling when saw Mia was laying on the ground with the blood all over.

"Mia!!!" I screamed her name loudly. I went near to her, crouching beside of her weak body and gently lift her head a little so she will be on my arms. My eyes burst with tears when saw her condition and there wasn't anything I could do to help her at all instead just praying for her not to leave me. "Oh God...please....Mia...I-I..c-can't live without you..."

I held her cheek, removing her hair which soaked with her blood out of her head.

"Mia..please don't leave me..." I pleaded for her. "Someone please call the ambulance!"

"Ai-Aiden....." I heard her called for my name, but it sounded so weak. "I-I'm s-sorry...." she hardly finished her words.

"No...don't say like that," I sobbed. "Yo-You done nothing wrong....just please don't leave me, okay..."

She tried to reach my cheek, "D-Don't c-cry...remember...*hardly breathes*....I-I w-will a-always l-love...y-y....." both of her eyes slowly closed once again while exhaling her long last breath.

I tried to wake her up again as she suddenly lost her consciousness. "Mia!!!...Mia??!! N-no....No!!!!" I cried a lot.

I....I don't know what to do.

There wasn't any pulse when I checked on her wrist. She wasn't breathing too...some people said she was gone but I-I don't want to believe them.

She's still alive!!!

I know, I-I just know it!!!

Luckily I got there in time as he was drowning after falling from the high cliff. He was wearing the helmet which making him hardly to move instead of sinking into the deep ocean even more. I quickly swam towards, pulled him gently by his waist him curving a smile as his beautiful cerulean blue eyes met mine as I removed the helmet from his head.

He looked at me with his widened eyes, maybe in shocked when saw me with umm.....tail.

“Don’t worry, Aiden,” I spoke out with the smile never left my lips. “You’ll be safe….” Then slowly pressed my lips on his lips so that I could gave him an underwater C.P.R before taking him into the surface.

Aiden completely lost his consciousness as we reached to the surface maybe he was tired and also in pain as he was drowning earlier. There were two big rocks between us so both of us were hidden from other people especially when I u-umm well….in this kind of state.

Here he is, Aiden Christensen, laying right in front of me after only watching him from a far. His thick eyebrows, his pointed nose, his sexy looking lips…Oh God, I missed him so much.

I gently caressed his right cheek while holding the tears, “I’m sorry for leaving you in pain.”

Mia??” U-oh…he’s waking up! What am I supposed to say to him? Would he be mad for leaving him for so long?

He looked a little bit weak, but still he forced himself to sit straight with me who was sitting beside of him. Aiden looked at me with his beautiful eyes, with tears started to form on both of his eyes. “Is that really you??”

I almost shed the tears, but I can’t show him that I am weak. I…I have to be strong, need to be strong so he will be too, to continue his life.

“Y-you…you have a tail??” Aiden’s eyes widened as he was in surprised when saw my lower body. “How is this possible?”

*siren wails*

“I really have no much time,” I said to him when heard the sirens were coming to our direction. “You were not supposed to see me at all. This was a mistake….I..I just broke the rule…”

But Aiden just cut me in by holding my right hand and gently squeezed it, “Please…don’t leave me again, Mia…” He finally shed the tears, making my heart shattered into pieces when looked at him, crying like that.

"I'm sorry, Aiden..." I apologised to him while wiping his tears on his right cheek.

"P-please...Mia," his voice sounded cracked, making me hardly to decide what best for both of us. "I...I just got you back...please, don't leave me again..."

I closed my eyes, holding my best from shed tears in front of him. "...*breathe in*...I'm sorry, Aiden for doing this..." without wasting anytime, I leaned closer to him then pressed my lips on his warm lips. But this time, the touch from me will completely erased any of the memories I wanted to erase from him.

'You will not remember anything about meeting me or what I have become. I'm so sorry for doing this to you, but it's for both of our sakes.'

Aiden's beautiful eyes once again met mine as I broke the kiss, but then they were slowly closed until he completely lost his consciousness again.

I swam back into the sea and even took a last glance to the unconscious Aiden with tears filled both of my eyes. The police and emergency responses founded Aiden between of the big rocks and brought him into the ambulance by using the stretcher.

'Goodbye, Aiden...'

'Where am I?'

'Am I dead?'

I woke up in a room which was so unfamiliar to me. I couldn't remember anything what happened to me...but wait...*flashes of memories*...I was in accident. I-I...thought I was going to die, drowning in the sea as I fall from the cliff...

"Aiden??" A familiar voice suddenly approached me. "Oh thank goodness that you're okay. We thought we...." but suddenly someone cut her in.

"Come on, just give him some space," this time, it was from a guy.

My eyesight was still blurry when I tried to look at them, but I really know that voices. They are my friends, Laura and Shawn.

My throat felt so dry and my voice wouldn't even come out as I was trying to talk with them.

"Aiden?? Are you okay?" Laura, my best friend asked me as she noticed me was struggling to speak. "Is there anything you need?"

"W-Wa-water...." I hardly speak out.

"O-oh...*looks around*....Shawn.... Give me that!!!," the clumsy Laura grabbed the mineral bottle from Shawn's grip which left him hanging for awhile. "

They are still with me even though I completely left them behind after that incident.

Laura poured some water on the glass then put a straw so it will be easier for me to take a sip.

"Thanks..." I thanked her after taking a few sips of the water.

"How did I get here?" I moved a little so I could sat straight on the bed while leaning my back on the soft pillow with Laura's help.

"All of us were waiting for you like our planning, but unfortunately you never arrive. And then Shawn got a call from the police saying that you got into an accident." Laura explained, looking so worried about me. "Do you remember anything from it?"

"It was so blurry...but I did remember that I was drowning after falling from the cliff," I answered them.

"Oh God...luckily you're safe," Laura sounded relieved.

I nodded a little, still confused with all of this.

"Oh...my bike, do you happen to know-...." I stopped when saw Shawn shook his head as he just answered my unfinished question.

"Hmmm I guess I need to earn more money to buy a new one, huh," I curved a small smile on my lips so that they have not to worry about me anymore.

"Don't you dare, Aiden..." Laura suddenly protested with my words and gave me a death glare, "And you too, Shawn!" Then turned to her boyfriend too, making the both of us swallowed hard when her angry side just showed up.

I got discharged a day after and both of my best friends made sure I arrived to my vacation house safely by giving me a ride. Laura even brought food from her home, so the three of us could have lunch together, just like our campus days years ago.

"God, I really missed your cooking so much," I said with a mouthful of spaghetti.

"Just eat slowly, you i***t," Laura seemed a bit pissed of me. "I don't want someone end up dead after eating my food..."

Shawn and I burst out of laughter.

This is surely reminded of me the old times.

I looked down to my plate which contained half of the spaghetti and a meatball on it. I did a big mistake to them for years but still, they are treating me better, as their best friends.

"I'm so sorry, Laura, Shawn...." I suddenly spoke out after being quiet for awhile. "I shouldn't have-..."

But Laura cut me in, "It's okay, Aiden. We get that....I mean, we understand how you feel after losing someone that you're truly love. Even for me, I might do the same thing if I ever lose Shawn. Let the past bygone, let's start with the something new. Be a new person, Aiden. "

"Yes, buddy," Shawn agreed with his girlfriend. "Laura is right. Just be a new person and at least, try to move on from...you know who I meant, right? Live your life to the fullest and achieve what you've dream about like you used to say when we were kids." My best friend patted my shoulder, convincing me to change to be a better person.

Laura and Shawn left my house 2 hours later and that fierce girl already gave me a warning for not to come out from my house for a week until my health is fully recover.

Seriously I really don't want to make her pissed off or I'll might be dead for sure.

I took a bottle of soft drink from the refrigerator then walked towards the living room where my paces stopped right in front of the black piano.

Mia's favourite instrument to be exact.

*piano's melody*

I played the song we used to play together long ago.

Conon in D major, her favourite.

'I really hope you can hear this, Mia,'

Shawn was right...I should probably move on from my past and live my life for the future. So maybe, this is the last time I will think of you, my dear Mia. But still, you will always have a special place in my heart and no one can ever replace it.

The next morning, I woke up to a loud sound coming from outside of my bedroom. That can't be a theft...because I heard the neighbourhood has a smart security.

Hmm..this is weird, I already locked the front doors after my friends left yesterday.

I quickly scoot away from my bed and slowly walked away from the bedroom to check out who just broke into my house. And surprisingly, the whole living room and kitchen were completely a mess. The couch pillows and books were all over the floor and the food…*sighs*…

Wow..it’s going to be a lot to do, today.

But who did this anyway?

I went to check my valuable properties but none of it were missing. So it wasn’t a theft at all. That’s weird.

*loud bang*

There was something heavy fell from my walking closet which made me jumped a little. I quickly grabbed my phone out of my pocket, preparing myself to dial the emergency number while taking my paces towards the closet.

I was totally in shocked when saw someone in there, half naked, who was standing in the middle of the closet with a broken floor lamp right beside of her feet.

"M-Mia???...."
