As I look over, I see Jeremy sitting next to Nicolas. I've got werewolf hearing, so I can hear what they're saying. Jeremy noticed Nicolas was staring at me.
"Don't even think about her, man. She's a part of the Barbie clan over there. They don't really date. It looked like Alexi and I were gonna hit it off. I tried to kiss her, but she ripped up my shirt and ran. She hasn't talked to me since. I've even kissed Stacy in front of her to make her jealous. No effect on her man." I laughed when I heard that.
In continuing to talk to Nicolas, Jeremy says, "She is great at soccer. She is like a one-person team. She is faster and athletically more gifted than anyone I know." Nicolas mutters, "I promise she will lose today." He smirks.
Every class, Nicolas follows me despite my ignoring him. My anger won't be fueled by his actions. No way am I letting him get to me. My anger will be vented on the field. He'll see who's going to win and which school's boss. He's gonna eat my dirt later. Again, Kiki laughs. When I ask Kiki, "Are you a traitor?" she replies, "You'll see." Then she disappears.
We're at the end of class, and you guessed it, Nicolas followed me. It's the end of class and the bell rings. I think he's going to keep following me. I growled at him, "Listen creepy stalker, don't you have practice or something? You'll need it if you want to beat me and my team", I laughed and started walking away. I don't want to let him see that he's upsetting me. I just smirk and leave. He says, "Later Barbie." He knows I hate the name.
I'm heading to the west end of the field where our school's team is warming up. I have already changed into my soccer uniform. It is time for the game.
There are my cheering parents in the crowd. It's hard to describe how much I love them. Then there's Jeremy sitting with none other than Stacy. Thinking about his earlier conversation with Nicolas, I laughed. Trying to make me jealous of Stacy. That's so not working... I chuckle.
At the other end of the field, Nicolas' group is warming up. His smirk spreads across his face as he winks at me. The whole thing is so annoying! I can't stand him! It's hard to believe such a pompous jerk exists!
As soon as I see him, I turn away and ignore him. Here's a pep talk I give the team. Let's remember we're the champs and don't let that pompous team psych you out. We're the best team in the U.S. We're the Warriors!! We're the Warrior Falcons! I put my fist up in the air and yelled Falcons! "We all jumped and high fived each other. Our eyes are hungry when we see the other team. We're gonna eat them alive. Our team will win!
In order to make their team feel like they can beat us, the opposing team hypes them up. Laughing, I think, "They don't have a chance!"
They're way better than I expected. Playing the game is tough. It's almost like they're performing as well as me. I'd say "Almost".
I usually do a triple axel before landing in front of someone. It's fun to show off to the crowd even though it's not part of the game. In getting to the ball, I didn't have time to do my signature leap over people. American football resembles the game more than soccer.
Next thing I knew, guys and girls were fighting on the field over pushing and shoving. As I'm the one making all the scores, some try to gang up on me. I'm too fast for them to catch up with me. However, they're good and I can't get my shot to go in.
The punches flew back and forth as each team began punching the other. After the referees entered the arena, they started breaking up the teams. I'm standing there, watching the ball bounce back and forth between my knees. Nicholas kneed the ball out of my hands. "What, you're gonna pay for taking my ball!"
"Come on Barbie! Who's gonna win?" Nicolas yells as I ran across the field.
My claws are getting longer, and I'm getting furious. My back was turned when I realized I couldn't let the crowd see the wolf.
Running across the field into the forest and across the rocky Cricks Stones nestled in the water at the back of the field, I huff and puff. I fully shift into my wolf Kiki when I'm in the forest. Nicolas has been following me, unbeknownst to me.
Both captains aren't playing anymore. As soon as I'm deep in the woods, I stop. As I pant, my tongue dangles out. After that, I sit down and rest. I was able to relax and get control over my wolf this way. Preening my fur, licking my paws, and relaxing.
From the leaves, there's a crackling sound. A hulking black wolf with silver highlights was standing in front of me. He blew me away with his appearance. The black wolf was exactly the same size as me.
(Nicolas was thinking to himself) This size isn't typical for regular wolves.
I got up, growling at the wolf. It's on my territory, so I want to scare it away. Could you tell me what's going to happen instead? Let me tell you what happened. The wolf changes into Nicolas. I keep looking at him, and I get more curious.
It's Nicolas's command that I shift. Hence, my position remains unchanged. "Oh no, he didn't." What's he thinking when he demands I take human form? Here he is again, commanding me. However, I'm not gonna do it. Nicholas sighs, "Could you shift so we can talk?" I returned to my human form, "I am an Alpha, and a normal werewolf would obey me out of instinct."
I replied, "Was that so hard to ask nicely, was it?" He looked at me quizzically and said, "You don't smell like a rogue." Yet you don't smell like you're in a pack. In all honesty, I don't understand why you're in a human town."
My sigh deepens. For starters, I don't know what a rogue is. I don't know what a pack is, unless you're talking about dogs. Why I'm here, I don't know. It's hard to tell who I am or why I'm here since my human parents haven't told me. It's not my intention to hurt their feelings, since they've been great parents to me. "Tonight, I'm asking them if I'm adopted and who my biological parents are."
In shock, Nicolas stares at me, "You don't know anything about us?" He runs his fingers through his curly bangs. When he looked at me, he said, "You need to be more careful about letting your wolf show. You were losing it on the field."
It didn't help that you were egging me on, so I ran off the field. You could tell I didn't like being called Barbie." I huffed out loud.
He looks at me, "If I had trained you in a pack, you would have learned to control your wolf even if you're mad." I shrugged, "Again, I have no idea what a pack is. I'm a human who grew up in a small town. When I was 13, I turned into a wolf. I thought I'd gone insane."
His eyes are wide with amazement. "What's going on?" he says. The majority of she-wolves don't turn until around 15-16. Only Alphas and Royals change at that young age. "Who are you?"
My reply is, "Heck if I know."
There was a look of confusion on Nicolas' face. It's time to report you to the council now that we know you exist. We need you back with us. You need training so you don't tell the humans about our species."
Suddenly, I stared at Nicolas. It's not in my plans to travel with you two! I've never told anyone I'm a wolf and my parents wouldn't let me leave home with you two! I'm going to college after high school, so I'm not leaving!"
In the back of my mind, Kiki says something. 'We've got to let go of our pride; we've got to learn about our kind, remember?'"
Sighing, I realize Kiki's right: "I'll come, but not now. I need to complete my graduation first, which will only be a couple of months away. I want to learn more about who I am and what I am. So far, there hasn't been anyone else like me."
Friends and family are my life, and I don't want to leave them. I don't think Nicolas realizes how hard this is for me emotionally. There's never been a time when I was away from home.
