Caylee shakes her head and wraps her arms around me, pulling me in close. She is naked and drenched in blood, but I don't care. She is in my arms and she is safe and that is all that matters. "I am so sorry." I say again, but she only holds me closer. The screaming around us dies down and everything goes quiet, my pack giving me a moment with my mate.
"Where is she?" She asks after a moment and I pull away, looking into her eyes to see how much of herself is still in there. Her eyes have dulled and she looks thinner, but she is still Caylee, still the woman I love. No matter what has happened to her.
"She got away, but we were able to find her once. We will find her again." I tell her, confident that we won't lose her again.
"The things they did." She says, her eyes going dark
