AIDEN’S POV
Coming into my study room and seeing Davina holding a picture of I and Natalie got me so mad, I know I specifically warned her to stay away from all the rooms up here. I think I know the problem,
“I think it’s because of what transpired between us and she now thinks she can walk around my house like it’s hers” I said as I went downstairs to confront her. I saw her in the hallway wiping blood off her hands but I didn’t give a damn.
“Who the f**k asked you to go into my study?”
“I’m sorry sir” She said shivering.
“Don’t f*****g apologize to me” I said.
“Sir I was only looking for you to tell you that your launch was ready”
“Come off it, do I look dumb to you?”
“No sir”
“Then you would have come up with a f*****g better excuse, I don’t f*****g care about the little fling we had, you should know your f*****g place in this house, you’re nothing but a f*****g maid and maids don’t go through their bosses properties”
“I’m sorry sir”
“If I ever get you snooping around my properties just consider yourself fired”
“I’m so sorry sir”
“Sorry for yourself dumb ass” I said as I stormed out of the hallway and went straight to my bar. I filled my glass with wine and gulped it at a shot. I was so angry at Davina but most especially for reacting the way I did,
“But it’s not my fault, I certainly told her that she has no business with upstairs, so I can’t be blamed for my actions” I said to myself trying to convince myself that I didn’t do anything wrong, “Did I overreact? I don’t think I did” “f**k!!! I think I’m losing my mind” I said as I smashed the glass cup on the wall. I know I was starting to like Davina but she would have listened to me when I told her not to come upstairs, I wasn’t ready to have any other lady in my space. “What if she wasn’t lying when she told me she came to tell me that my food was ready?, I think I just keep messing things up” After a few glasses of wine, I was feeling much better, went up to my study room, cleaned up the mess Davina left behind and went to my room to retire.
I woke up early the next morning cause I had an important business meeting but I woke with a banging head ache, probably because I drank on an empty stomach, I had my bath and went downstairs to see if my breakfast was ready, getting there I didn’t see Davina, that’s so unusual, she always awake by this time, so I went to get room and she went there, then went to the kitchen to fix something to eat, I got there and saw that she already made breakfast for me, so I just ate, took some pain relief drugs, got ready and left for work.
After work I got home to meet Alicia cooking.
“Hey bro!! What’s up?” She asked, looking so excited.
“Uhmm, I’m good, did you win a lottery?” I asked sarcastically.
“No, why do you ask?”
“I can’t remember the last time I saw you this excited”
“well I won something better than a lottery “
“And what could that be?”
“I won a contract that i told you about sometime ago”
“Which one?”
“The one with the Chinese investors I’ve being working on it for months now”
“That’s nice, congrats sis”
“Thanks a lot”
“ I’m really happy for you”
“Thanks bro”
“By the way why are you doing the cooking? And where’s Davina?”
“She said she had things to tidy up in school so I let her go do it”
“Okay, let me go get changed, I’ll be down in a jiffy”
“Okay”
I changed into a casual wear and came to have launch with Alicia, I helped her set the table and we sat to eat.
“Bro, we’re having a family dinner next week Sunday at Nick’s place”
“Okay, good luck with that”
“What do you mean good luck with that?” Alicia asked in an angry tone
“What’s so hard to understand, I don’t want to have dinner with your family”
“My family?” She asked as she broke into laughter. “Boy you’re so funny”
“What’s so funny?” I asked looking confused.
“You don’t want to have dinner with my family? How do you feel making such ridiculous statement? My family?” She kept echoing.
“Alicia I think you’re misunderstanding what I said”
“If you say I’m misunderstanding what you said, then explain what you mean by I don’t want to have dinner with your family?”
“I’m just not yet ready to be in the limelight again”
“Nobody’s putting You in the limelight”
“Have you forgotten how controlling your mother can be? I’m honestly not ready for her yet”
“I can talk to her, I bet she’ll understand”
“When has she ever understood any of us?”
“But she hasn’t being on your case for a while now”
“Because I’ve being mourning, if I go there she’d try her best to get me out in public and you know I don’t like that”
“This is what happens when you’re from a multimillion family, you can’t run away from it”
“Like I don’t know that”
“Aiden, we’ve missed you, we just want you back, you sometimes act like we no longer exist, you’ve succeeded in cutting us off your life and it isn’t fair, we now hear and see stuff about you on Television and magazines and it’s not just fair”
“I know, it’s not”
“Then do something about it it”
“Fine, you win, I’ll be there”
“Thanks bro” she said as she got up, picked the dirty dishes and pecked me before going into the kitchen.
“f**k!!” I said I said as I checked my time and saw that I’m an hour late to my appointment with my realtor.
“Where in God’s name are you rushing to?” Alicia asked trying to catch up with me.
“I’m meeting a realtor”
“What for?”
“Obviously to buy a house”
“How come I didn’t know about it?”
“I’ll call you when I get back” I said as I rushed to get into my car.
“Okay, don’t forget to call me when you get back” Alicia yelled as I drove off.
The meeting with the realtor was as productive as I expected, I examine the condo again, we then finalized payments for the house at the country side, he gave me the house keys and essential documents then I went home, I was so happy to be moving cause I felt like I’d finally be moving on with my life.
Got home and met Davina cooking dinner.
“Good evening sir” she greeted immediately she saw me walk by.
“Good evening Davina” I greeted as I kept walking.
After a while I came downstairs and saw Davina standing near the stairs like she was waiting for me to come down.
“Your food is ready sir, should I set the table now?”
“Yeah, sure” She set the table and was about leaving when I called her back,
“Davina!”
“Yes sir”
“I’d be moving to country side by the end of the month and I know you can’t move with me because of school”.
“Yes sir”
“Well, you’ve been really helpful here and I really appreciate so I’d pay ten times your actual salary by month end”.
“Sir you really don’t have to, moreover I planned to stop working here this month”.
“I insist”
“Thank you sir”
“You’re welcome”
“Can I take my leave now?”
“Sure” I answered and watched her walk away.
