The next morning I woke up to my phone blaring. It was a text from my Mom, Hope you enjoyed the sleepover, but I need you to come home as soon as you can we have company coming in today. I looked at the time it said11:00 a.m. Rain was sitting up, rubbing her eyes. “Rain Hey sorry, but I guess I got to go home. Mom just messaged and said we have company coming in. Do you think you could take me?” I asked her. “Sure Laney, Let me just get dressed,” she stretched her arms up and yawned. I sent a text telling my Mom I would be there soon and got my bag to get a fresh change of clothes. “You can use my bathroom,” Rain said. I nodded and walked towards her bathroom. Rain always let me use her bathroom ever since her older brother developed a crush on me. He would wait outside the main bathroom door and pester me if I used it. I took a quick shower and brushed my hair, deciding to let my hair air dry. When I came back out of the bathroom, the other girls were awake. “Sorry, you have to leave. Wonder who the company is, though?” Stacey said. I just shrugged my shoulders. After hugging the girls’ Rain and I headed out. Rain only lived a few minutes’ drive from me. She pulled up; I thanked her and told her I would call her later. I texted Josh as I walked up to my house. Good morning, babe. I sent. Hey babe, wanna go to the Beach Since we have the day off? He sent back. It was not like it was that hot out. It was only about seventy degrees outside as it was just the beginning of May, but it didn’t stop us from swimming from time to time. I don’t think I can. The rents got company coming in. I sent him back. As I walked in the door, Mom was dusting and moving things around. She looked frazzled. “Mom, I’m home,” I said, making her look up from her dusting. She ran her fingers through her hair. She looked like she had been cleaning all morning. “Good. We have a few guests coming in for the Barbecue.” She said. “Mom, the barbecue is not until Sunday,” I said as I laid my book by the steps. My mother picked up my bag and handed it back to me, “I know dear, but he will be here today. I need the guest rooms prepared. Can you do that for me?” she asked. I nodded, “who is this guest that has you all crazy?” I asked her. She turned back to her dusting and said, “No time to explain, dear, Sorry.”. I went and laid my bag on my bed and went to prepare the guest rooms . *************************************** An hour later I sat on my bed texting the girls and Josh. They were curious about who our mysterious guest was, but I had no answers. My mother never got this crazy, even when Mayor Maurice came for a visit. I could hear a door followed by my father’s voice and another man. I guess the mysterious guests were here. I had good hearing, but they were talking low. Mom said I could go out after I met the guest, so I sent Josh a text letting him know he could head this way. “Laney!!” My Mom hollered. I got up and went downstairs. As I rounded the corner the most gorgeous man I ever saw stood there.  He was tall, over six feet. His Jet black hair fell in waves on his head. The deepest emerald green eyes I had ever seen stared back at me. He had on a suit, but I could see his well-defined muscles still. I realized I was staring, but I couldn’t help myself. I needed to look away and fast, Josh would be here any minute. I could feel a raw power from this man, and his smell made me want to rip his clothes off right there. I could not believe I am having this reaction. I pulled myself together and turned towards my mother. Who had a look of utter shock on her face? “Yes, Mother.” I stammered. “Um, I would like you to meet Alp err Sean.” She said. He reached his hand out to me as his eyes took me in. As I went to shake his hand, the doorbell rang. Thank God, I just did not trust myself when he looked at me like that. As I walked to the door, I said, “Nice to meet you, Sean,” leaving him with his hand extended open. How rude of me, I know, and my mother would scold me later for sure. “Mom Josh is here,” I hollered. Josh looked quiet and thought a moment like he was having a private conversation, then nodded his head as he walked inside. Mom and Dad introduced him. “This is Laney’s boyfriend Josh Maurice,” My father said. Sean gave Josh what looked like a dirty look,  then shook his hand. “Well, we are heading out,” I said. “Laney the Maurices’ are coming over for dinner at six so please be back by five.” My Mom said as she kissed my cheek. Josh grabbed my hand, and a low growling noise came from Sean. No s**t, he actually growled. “Sounds like somebody is hungry,” I said as we walked out the door.  ************************ “So where are we going, babe?” I asked Josh. He didn’t answer, he just looked lost in thought. We had been just walking around at the beach for a few hours, Josh lost in thought and barely speaking. I hadn’t even got to swim. I stopped and stood In front of him. “What is wrong with you?” I demanded. “I am sorry Laney; I am just nervous and thinking,” he said, not even looking me in the eyes. “So we have been walking back and forth for hours Because You are thinking?” I said, my voice getting higher. It agitated me. I mean, he made plans with me and has just been ignoring me. He has always talked to me before. “No. It’s Just I have a lot on my mind, and I am sorry but I will make it up to you tomorrow. I have a surprise for you then,” he said as he kissed my forehead. “Ok, Josh. But I guess it’s time to head back now,” I said, irritation still in my voice. He suddenly got a devious look in his eyes as he picked me up and threw me into the water. As I went down, I pulled him in with me. The water was freezing, and I shivered as the water covered me. I needed heat only he could provide; I thought as I wrapped my legs around him and kissed him. I knew people were probably watching, but I didn’t care. I was just happy to be here with Josh, even if he was being an arse earlier. “I love you, Laney.” He said in between kisses. “I love you too Josh,” I replied as I pulled him closer trying to get warm. I suddenly got a cramp, but it went away as soon as it came.
