Chapter 8Arabella was not able to take her leave in a graceful manner until the following morning. At least her second night passed undisturbed by either nocturnal wanderings or erotic dreams. She slept deeply, but awoke still feeling tired after the hectic pace of the previous day and the lack of sleep the night before. Knowing she could start home shortly after breakfast relieved at least part of her mild depression. Finally, she settled behind the steering wheel in Clunker’s worn driver’s seat and headed north up Interstate 17. She found herself bearing down on the gas pedal, urging the old SUV to a faster pace, as one might a lazy horse. She could not wait to get home.
