Chapter 9: Their Office

(Sasha POV)
“But, you have to join our office,” Nikolai presented his new condition.
“And, why would I do that? I have my own office and I will use it,” She said with a confident smile.
“Oh, really! No one ever dared to refuse my condition and you are the first girl to do that,” He said while twirling a crystal paperweight with his fingers.
“I like that but you have to do as I say,” Nikolai’s words made her smile but she didn’t let it appear on her face. Nikolai didn’t know that it was Sasha’s idea to join their office, not his but she played her card in a way that turned everything in her favor. She wanted to let him think that he was the one in charge, but the reality was totally the opposite to that.
“Okay! I need some time to think about it. I will let you know about my decision soon,” She said before closing the file in front of her. Only two of them were present in the meeting room.
“Thanks for your signatures by the way,” Sasha said with a charming smile and got up from her seat. She had grace and authority in her personality, which attracted everyone, but she didn't care about others' opinions. She unlocked her car and put all the files on the passenger’s seat before taking her seat. She put pressure on the accelerator while her sharp eyes were fixated on the road ahead. She has to go to her office before going back home.
“How is she?” She asked Lennix after entering in her apartment. Lennix was present in front of her with a big scowl plastered on his face.
“I don’t know! She ate my whole brain and now, I am unable to focus on this file. We have to find another solution for her, Sasha! I am telling you that this girl will make me lose my mind soon,” He complained about Ana, who came with Sasha just a month ago but his life became hell after her arrival.
“I am sorry, Nix! I tried my best to come home early, but this project is testing my patience with each passing day,” Sasha complained about it before putting her head on the backrest of the couch.
“How was your meeting, Buddy?” Lennix put her laptop aside and started asking her about the details of the meetings.
“It was good but they added a strange condition in the contract that I have to shift my office in their building for the next six months,” She informed with her closed eyes, but her words were enough to make Lennix uncomfortable.
“So, You will spend your next six months in that building?” He asked and shifted in his place. He was praying in his heart to turn this information into a joke for him but his hope ended when Sasha shook her head in no.
“It is not a joke to spend the next six months in that office, Sash? It can be dangerous for you,” he wanted to shout at her but he knew that she would not share anything after that if he dared to complain about it in a loud office.
“Why did I say that It would be an easy task for me, Hmm?” She asked with an arched brow and tilted her head towards the right when a fast-moving ball passed near her ear. She and Lennix looked in the direction where Ana was standing with a cute pout on her face.
“Are you out of your damn mind, Girl? You were about to hurt Sasha,” He shouted in a loud and stern voice. A whimper escaped Ana’s lips in fear. Her body trembled in fear.
“Nix! Are you high? How can you talk to her like that? Look, what did you do? You scared her,” Sasha quickly walked towards her. Ana hugged her and started shedding tears.
“Seriously, Sash! You are taking her side when she was the one who was trying to harm you,” Lennix got angry when Sasha took her side.
“So-sorry! I will not do t-that ag-again,” Ana said in a childish voice, and Lennix frowned after hearing her apology and left the apartment in anger.
“He is an-angry wi-with m-me,” She told her and Sasha rubbed her back while trying to divert her attention.
“Don’t worry! He will be back soon. He will be here for dinner,” She informed her and then started asking about her family. She wanted to know about her family, but Ana hadn't shared anything useful with her till now. But, Sasha was enjoying her company. Ana was a good and fresh change in their monotonous lives and she didn’t want to lose her cute and sweet friend.
“I love chocolates and Oreo ice cream,” Ana informed her.
“Wow! Lennix also has a sweet tooth and Oreo ice cream is his favorite,” Sasha said, but didn’t know that Ana made a mental note of this information.
“Now! We have to go and prepare something for dinner, right?” Ana nodded before getting up with her. Sasha was asking for her help in selecting the ladle and cleaning dishes. Ana felt like she was doing a great job by helping her with preparing dinner.
“My brothers are very rich. They gave me this locket when I was 10 but I broke it yesterday,” She showed her broken locket to Sasha. Sasha inspected that square locket and her eyes widened when she noticed a GPS chip in it, but it was half-broken already.
“Can you please fix it for me?” Ana asked with great hope in her eyes.
“I don’t know how to fix it but one of my friends knows how to fix it. I will call him and ask him to fix it tomorrow, okay?” Ana nodded her head with a smile.
“Can I ask you something, Sash?” Ana asked and Sasha arched her brow when she called her by the same nickname that Lennix gave her but didn't say anything about it.
“Yes”
“What is a bastard child?” Her innocent question started her and Sasha’s spatula slipped from her hand and fell on the floor.
“What???” She said in a hushed voice.
