As soon as we went back outside, Jules shot me this smirk behind Lake’s back and started to flirt with him.
I knew what they were doing of course. The quip about Lake and I flirting had been a test. When neither of us had denied it, they decided to start stirring. But this wasn’t the place for that, so I decided to ignore it.
“So, the cats are in the cattery,” they started, and walked us to the other end of the building with the toilet.
“How many are there?” Lake asked, walking next to Jules.
Something about him screamed a mental image of him pushing up his sleeves. He was preparing to deal with whatever we’d find here.
“Total of three kittens, about five weeks old, and two adults, neither of which is the mom. Nobody knows what happened to her.”
