Accidental events

AFTER A FEW WEEKS AT HOSPITAL

AT ADRIAN'S POW:

The past few weeks were quite normal here. I am enjoying my work here but I noticed that something is a little bit different than before. By different I mean that nurses became a bit more quieter, they before were taken near a coffee cup more often. I know this because they usually invited me too for a cup of coffee and that way I was able to know more news about this place. With their help I know about half of the people who live here and how often they come here for their usual prescriptions and that making my work a little bit easier. I am not that person who likes rumors but to know some of the important details of this town is good for me.

-Good morning doctor.-One of nurses said when she walked inside my office.

She usually works with me and her name is Riva. She works in this hospital for about three and a half years and having her near my side is quite useful.

-Good morning Riva.-I say and smile.

-I heard some news doctor. Not a good new.-She says.

-What happened?-I ask her with a worried tone in my voice.

-Well, the mountain part where we have some of the trees growing and wood choppers getting most of their wood, some of that wood burned.- Riva says.

When she says that I gulp. I know that chopping those trees are making a big income in this town, because this place does not have many resources but they are managing because they trying to find ways to make people's lives easier. I hope nobody got injured.

-There were injured people?-I ask Riva.

-Well some of them got small burns but nothing serious doctor. Some volunteers of the hospital went there and fixed them up.-Alya says and smiles.

-That is a great new.-I sigh in relief.-What else?

-Now is nothing new except this situation.- Riva says and smiles handing a few patient files.-Those are for today's doc.

-Thanks.-I take them and smile.-You can let a patient in.

I look at the door and see a middle-aged man walking in with a stick in his hand.

-Good day doctor.- He sats and smiles.

-Good day you may sit down and tell me what is your problem.

He sits down and shows me his burned leg. I gasp a bit realizing that this might be his burn from that fire accident in woods.

-How did you got this burn?-I ask.

-Have you heard of that fire accident in woods? I was nearby and got burned.-He says.

I look closer and examine his wound. It does not look too bed when volunteers treated it but still need some help.

- Riva, bring some painkillers and write prescriptions to medicine to make his burn heal faster.-I say.

-Of course doctor.-She writes prescriptions and hands to me to sign.

-Done.-I sign.-This the medicine must be applied on the leg before putting bandages on the skin.

-Of course.-Man says and smiles.- Thank you for help.-He says smiling.

-I am here to help if wound look worse or something else happens don't be afraid to come.- I say.- You can go now.

-Thank you doctor.-Man says and leaves.

I kept working with my patients until around lunchtime. Then I finally got a chance to eat my lunch so I went to the usual place I get my food. I ordered some steak, potatoes, and salad and took this food back to my office. It is better to eat there because near my office we got a break room where usually all staff eats their food. I also most of the time go there because that way I spend time with other doctors and I became more part of this hospital community.

-Good day doctor.-Woman from the special care department said to me.

-Good morning Chloe.-I say.-How are your side patients?-I ask.

-Quite nice Adrian, few harder cases but the situation is quite normal.-She says and smiles.

-Well I heard that some volunteers came from your section.-Anna's cousin doctor says smiling.

-Because we sent one volunteer from each department. And seems operations and those who can treat easy wounds had most of the work there.-Chloe says and smiles.

-At least that fire accident took no lives.-I say.

-They all were in huge luck.-Alya says smiling.

The rest of the workday went quite calmly today I was working twenty-four-hour shift so in the evening I got pretty tired and decided to take a small nap in my office room. I was sleeping for a few hours until I heard a hospital siren sound. That only meant one thing, that something bad happened there. I see how paramedic takes out stretchers with a woman lying on them. She has pretty visible bruises on her skin and her hand is in a kind of weird position. That shows up that hand is broken.

- At twenty-four years a woman was found injured near the forest. She said she tried to defend her sheep from the wolves but was attacked. Her husband shot him but was also injured. He's in another car. The woman's breathing is stable, the pulse is normal, but an open wound on the arm and some large abrasions are visible.-Paramedic say that a lays her down on the bed.

-Riva call Chloe from the nearby department and say that we gonna need operation room soon.-I say to Riva and she leaves room fast.

I look at female and I see that her skin color is a bit paler so she is losing her blood fast.

I snuggle a quick bandage to the wound to stop the bleeding and see Chloe coming in.

-That looks badly.-She says.

-I know her husband will be brought soon, can I take care of him? -I will ask her.- This woman needs surgery.

-Of course.-Chloe says and puts on protective gloves.

-Thank you Chloe.-I say and smile while injecting strong painkillers into a woman's body.

I see Riva telling me that the operating room is already ready and I hand it over to Riva and quickly change into the operating clothes.

After a few hours I come out of the operation room. I was kinda worried about her health before but she is in great condition now. I asked about her husband and he was in a way better situation than his wife. Am I just wondering how wolves got there? That territory was protected with a big fence and no wolf was able to get into there unless somebody opened the gate. That is still after a few hours of rest in my house can not come out of my head.
