Lizzie’s footsteps slowed the closer they got to the house. It wasn’t something she could explain, not to Kevin or herself, but she felt compelled to go back to the old plantation house. She felt out of sorts at the main house, as if she didn’t belong. She’d lived there most of her life and had never felt like this before.
