Lizzie gave the others enough time to head to the plantation house before she followed them. She left the Florida room, closing the door firmly behind her and wandered out into the kitchen. She smiled when she saw a bowl of freshly chopped cantaloupe, her favorite. This was Nora"s way of letting her know she wasn"t upset with Lizzie. Reaching out, she grabbed a couple of pieces of melon, molded into bite size balls, and popped one in her mouth. Sweet juices of the bright cantaloupe filled her mouth. It was at the perfect room temperature with the flavor peaked. Lizzie liked her fruit at room temperature rather than cold, almost as if it had been freshly picked. She smiled as she thought of the times in her childhood when she had stolen out into the strawberry patch to eat the strawberrie
