~RILEY’S POV~ With eyes squinted in disbelief, Harriet asks me, “What are you doing here? I thought you’d never come back.” As I open my mouth to relate to her the meticulously-crafted truth, designed by my comrades in my pack to woo her, I feel my heart ache in discomfort. Unappreciative of the delay in delivering the response, she does the job of filling the gap with her own reasoning for my sudden return, “You missed me? That’s how it is, right?” Not knowing what else can serve as a sound explanation behind my reappearance, I nod and she easily welcomes me back into her life with an embrace. As soon as she takes hold of me, I am acquainted with the fast-paced beating of her heart, something that proves her elation at seeing me. To make my already soaring guilt worse, she breaks the
