Alena guessed that he had gone to inspect how far the workmen had progressed and if they were carrying out the instructions he had given them. She went up to the Picture Gallery to find Vincent, as she felt certain he would be back by now. He was there and she saw that he had brought all the paraphernalia of brushes and paints he would need.
