A moment later, Alicia became aware of something engulfing her head. Her neck hurt too. She reached up to touch it and found it was protected by something. She heard a voice calling her name.
When she leaned back and opened her eyes, the airbag was already deflating. A bang on the driver's side window startled her, but actually helped her get reoriented. She heard the voice again, but she couldn't make out what the person said because a clap of thunder boomed at the same time.
