Matt just couldn’t leave it alone, he had to remind me about the bet, right in front of Stuart. Oh god, I’m a goner.
“What was the bet?” he asks he as he pulls out of the carpark. I laugh at the stupidity if it all.
“Well, he bet that you would ask me out again today, so £20 I owe him" I say shaking my head as I look out the window.
“So, you had said that I wouldn’t ask you out again? I’m hurt" he says placing his hand over his chest with a look of hurt on his face. Obviously faking it.
“I only said I didn’t think you would ask, I didn’t want to get my hopes up in case you did not ask" I tell him truthfully. You know what I mean though, Matt said he would ask I and hoped he would but didn’t want to be let down if he did not ask. I mean I really like him, and I don’t want to come across all needy and desperate.
“I get where you are coming from.” He says as he takes my hand in his and places it on his rock-hard thigh. God this man and his muscle is never ending. We ended up back at his place so he could dump his back and change his top, he told me he normally hangs around the club house after a match but had already told the guys he wouldn’t be doing that today as he was taking me out afterwards.
“So, you had all this planned already. I’m beginning to wondering if you and Matt were in on this bet together" I say as he leads me from the elevator to his door.
“I’m not really a gambling man. But I know Matt pretty well and he knows me so he would know my intentions, especially after that brotherly talk he gave me last night when I picked you up" he chuckles as he leads me through his apartment.
Stuart goes to get changed as I wonder around his place. A small 1-bedroom apartment, kitchen, and a small dining area. The kitchen has all the fancy gadgets, coffee machine and American style fridge. The dining area a small round table with four chairs. The lounge a decent size with 2 big leather sofas the walls neutral coloured but with a stunning full glass window overlooking the town. The view goes on for miles, you can just see the neighbourhood where my new house is, a fair distance but still you can see it.
As I’m looking at the view I see Stuarts reflection in the window, he’s standing at the lounge door leaning against the wall. “the view from here is amazing.” I tell him as I look over my shoulder.
“Mmm it sure is" he says as he walks over to stand behind me. Wrapping his arms loosely around my neck and resting his chin on my head. He’s so tall I have to crane my neck up to see his face. “you can just see my new neighbourhood from here.” I point it out to him. “I forgot you bought a new place, when do you move?” he asks as he takes my hand leads me to his sofa.
“I get the keys in a couple of weeks, I really need to start buying furniture though, it’s completely empty” I tell him as he sits beside me wrapping his arm over my shoulder and pulling me closer to him.
“Well how about we head out and take a look around at the furniture store, it’ll take a few weeks for delivery, then we can go for dinner" he says as he plays with the collar of my denim jacket. A man suggesting that we go shopping, that doesn’t happen every day.
“Sure, I need everything, so it’ll take a while, are you sure your man enough to handle a shopping trip with me?”
“I’m all man babe. A little shopping won’t hurt. I’ll be able to carry all your shopping bags" he says as he flexes his arm muscles. I giggle as he pulls me up from the sofa and we head out shopping.
After spending what felt like hours in the furniture store, I had purchased a new bed and mattress, 2 bedside tables and a matching small vanity unit. I also managed to get a nice corner sofa with matching armchair and a dining table set, oh and a coffee table for the lounge. As I spent so much the store gave me a super discount, also Stuart bargained with then about delivery charges and dates. Once it was all sorted and signed and paid for, I left the store all happy and excitedly.
I had been on a video call with Sophie, while going around, to get a girl’s point of view before I bought anything, she agreed everything look good and would match my tastes. As it was getting late we headed to a bistro along the road from the shops for dinner.
Once we were seated and had ordered we are talking about his match and my panic attack earlier. I sat explained why I get like that and he was feeling so guilty. It genuinely wasn’t anyone’s fault, it was just not expected so I couldn’t prepare myself for it. We soon got over it when my brother called halfway through dinner. Andy, my brother, doing exactly what I expected asking twenty questions about my date, turns out they went to school together.
“You went to school with my brother” I told Stuart once I ended Andy’s call “Andrew Wilson, he was friends with Danny and Mark" it’s like a lightbulb went off in his head.
“wow. Andy Wilson. He moved to Florida. Oh man yeah I still speak to him every so often. And you are his little sister. I don’t remember you from school, I’m sure I would have remembered such a pretty face" he tells me, and I nearly choke on my drink as I blush.
“I have changed dramatically since high school, looks wise. I had the horrible braces, thick glasses, and a fringe so I could hide behind it. I was very shy at school. Never spoke to my brother in school, Danny and Mark used to always pick on me so I avoided them like the plague.” I pull my phone out and show him a picture I have of when I was at high school. He looks puzzled, lifting his head from my phone to me and back again.
“You were cute at high school and have grown into an absolutely stunning woman, Alice. Unfortunately, I don’t remember you from school.” He says handing my phone back. As we sit and eat our meal Stuart’s phone is going off the hook, his teammates wanting him to meet them at a pub in town. It’s only just after 8pm so we head along. I did ask him to just drop me off at Sophie’s, so he could spend time with his mates, but he wanted me to come along with him. We are on a second date as he reminded me.
I’m a bit apprehensive about walking into a bar with him, not only because we’re meeting his mates but he is drop dead gorgeous and sexy and I know any woman in the pub will want a piece of him. As he locks up his car he takes my hand in his intertwining our fingers pulling me close to his side, he leans down and plants a kiss on my head.
“Forgot to tell you Danny and Mark will be here, they were playing today as well" I freeze in my steps, my mouth gapping. “you’ll be fine, babe. You’re with me. Please I want them to meet my girlfriend” he says as he pulls me to the side and wraps his arms around me. Again, with the girlfriend label.
“I just wasn’t expecting that bombshell, I haven’t seen them in nearly ten years. And since when am I your girlfriend" I ask as I smirk at him.
“You were my girlfriend the minute you agreed to our first date babe. I know we have just met and I’m going to sound so sappy saying this, but I feel like I’ve known you for years, we have so much in common and we get along. I would love you to be my girlfriend, if you’ll have me has your boyfriend" he did sound sappy but sweet at the same time. I simply nod my head reach up on my tippy toes and whisper in his ear while running a finger down his chest seductively.
“As long as you keep your eyes on me and not the group of woman currently staring at your ass from the window.” I kiss his cheek and walk into the pub leaving him slightly flustered. I walk up to the bar to order drinks as Stuart comes up behind me.
“you are such a tease babe.” He comes up behind me trapping my body against the bar. He plants a kiss on my cheek as we take our drinks and look for his mates.
It doesn’t take much to spot them, in fact you can hear them before you see them. Up in the back corner a group of about 10 slightly drunk men laughing and joking. Stuart pulls me along to the group and makes introductions. I spot Danny first sitting in the middle of the table. He is looking at me like he is trying to think who I am. Eventually, he shouts “Alice Wilson, little Alice" he jumps up practically jumping over the table to reach me. Wrapping me in a bear hug. He only lets me go after Stuart coughs and tells him to keep his hands off. Stuart pulls me to his side giving Danny a warning look.
“You are dating Alice? Does Andy know?” Mark asks from behind Danny looking just as shocked.
“Spoke to him earlier, he can’t do much from the other side of the world" Stuart laughs as I tell them.
“Well Alice it’s a pleasure seeing you again. You have grown to be an incredibly beautiful lady” Mark says as he hugs me, reluctantly Stuart allows it. Possessive much. We all sit or stand and talk and laugh at the antics of these rugby lads. A few of them have their wife’s or girlfriend with them so I’m not the only woman here, thankfully they all seem nice enough and we soon start talking.
I’m sitting with the ladies of the group as we chat about our careers, one of them is a primary school teacher, another is a secretary at a doctor’s surgery, and another is event planner. When I tell them what I do they are all so excited. Danny’s girlfriend, Tracy is a schoolteacher, she has a booking this week to come into the shop. She’s super excited about her wedding, which is in six months’ time. I remember Andy telling me he was coming back for it, which means he will probably stay at mine while he’s here, depending if our parents are back from their extended holidays, oh to be retired.
As it’s getting late, we all head outside just as we are all hugging and saying goodbye. I hear that oh so familiar voice calling my name. It send chills down my spine and not in a nice way. I turn to see a drunk looking Martin.
“Alice, you are looking lovely" he slurs his words as he staggers over to where I am standing. Stuart soon standing at my side, almost in a protective stance, placing a hand around my waist.
“Martin, you look drunk as ever" I say taking a small step back before he gets too close.
“I’ve been trying to contact you. You are avoiding my calls. I miss you Alice baby. Please come back. I love you. You mean the world to me" he goes on to say as he sways with the effects of alcohol in his system.
“If you loved me Martin you wouldn’t have f****d that slut in our bed. I’m avoiding your calls because I have nothing to say to you. Now f**k off and leave me alone" I say as I turn my back on him as Tracy pulls me into her side, I have no tears for that man. I hear Stuart and the others telling him to get a cab home and to leave me alone. He reluctantly leaves the area where we stand. I feel Stuart wrap his arms around me and Tracy stepping aside to let him comfort me.
The guys and girls soon head off after they made sure I was ok. I’ve only just met them, but they seemed to genuinely care about the situation. I briefly explained to them what had happened with us. Danny and Mark were raging, kept on saying they could teach him a lesson, Stuart soon pulling them back. I don’t need anyone getting into trouble, he is not worth it.
“Why does he always appear when we are on a date?” I chuckle trying to make light of the situation.
“I have no idea babe, he seemed pretty drunk though" he says as we drive back to Sophie’s place. It doesn’t take long to get back and we are soon sitting outside her place. There’s still lights on in the lounge, so I invite him in for coffee and he happily accepts.
As I peak inside the lounge, I see Matt and Sophie cuddled up watching a movie, I apologise for interrupting them, but they were cool with it, especially when they see Stuart behind me. Me and Sophie head to the kitchen to make a pot of tea, leaving the guys in the lounge to have boy talk. I can hear them laughing and joking which brings a smile to my face. I’m glad Stuart gets on with Matt, when I started dating Martin, he made everything awkward for himself with my friends. This is a better situation all together.
While in the kitchen I tell Sophie about my encounter with Martin again. She doesn’t understand him at all, why is he acting like he is? I have no clue, it’s been long enough for him to get the hint and it was his fault at the end of the day.
“He is a total jerk Alice. He needs to deal with him losing the best thing that ever happened to him, you" she says as we head back through to the guys who are now playing Xbox.
“Sophie is right. He has realised what he lost. He’s a total tool and you know I never really liked him" Matt says as he sips his tea.
“I know. On our next date he better not crash it, or I swear he’ll get punched” I say looking at Stuart. He nods in agreement. Soon we forget about Martin and have a laugh at the boys failing at whatever game they are playing.
At nearly midnight Stuart gets ready to leave, Sophie and Matt had headed up to bed about half hour ago and the minute they left us alone, Stuart pulled me on to his lap and we’ve pretty much been making out since, to the point I can hardly feel my lips. Standing at the front door Stuart has me pinned to the wall, my legs wrapped around his waist, the kiss getting very heated and I can feel his arousal through his jeans at my core. Once he has me steadied on my feet, panting and a blushing mess he whispers in my ear.
“I could kiss you all night long babe. Your lips just do things to me" I giggle not knowing what to reply. He eventually stops kissing and actually leaves the house, huffing about going for a cold shower.
