19: Mage

The person quickly casted his magic. The fireball was slow, that gave the three the leeway to dodge in time/

"Damn! Dodge!" Kit shouted.

The three rolled out of the way, and got up.

"What should we do? We haven't received any training for battling against mages..." Lance said while holding his sword up. Grant is also holding onto his greatsword.

"My my~ What energetic lads~ I'll be sure to destroy you all completely!" Another fireball was conjured out of nowhere, this time two of them and hurled it towards the three. They dodged again and started moving towards the mage.

"Let's close the gap! Mages are weak to close combat!" Kit said to the two, the two nodded in agreement. They closed the gap, the mage clicked his tongue.

Lance swinged his blade but the mage dodged in time, Grant took a big swing, using the momentum of his muscles. The mage saw it and quickly put up a barrier,

But then, Kit suddenly appeared on his back, he thrusts his sword on the mage's back. The mage suddenly shouted angrily.

"You are all annoying!" A sudden explosion of mana dispersed the three, taking damage.

[You took a huge blow, causing 50 damage] Kit saw his health going down.. 'Damn... That's a lot of danage..."

Kit held his shoulder, he was mostly hit on his shoulder because of his thrusting motion. Grant got up, tossed over a little sack over the two. Kit opened the sack, it was full of herbs.

"Bite one." Grant said. He got up and rushed towards the mage, while he's fighting the mage, the two quickly recovered.

[Healing herb consumed, 30 HP restored] The system suddenly popped up, Ever since he got the system, Kit was always surprised whenever it appeared in front of him.

"Thanks Grant!" The two shouted as they stood up and joined the fight, while Grant was keeping the mage busy by smashing his greatsword into the mage's barrier. The two, Kit and Lance got around and flanked him. Kit swung his sword towards the mage's back, but the same thing will happen. The mage channeled his mana again to explode the area.

"Get away!!!" The mage screamed, with a powerful shockwave, the surrounding shook, luckily Kit saw it coming and stopped halfway through.

"Damn, how do we defeat him?" Lance grumbled, he's clearly frustrated. This is the first time they've encountered a mage, and they didn't know how to fight him.

"Should we escape?" Lance also said, escaping is impossible now because the mage is still locked on to them.

The three started to plan their retreat.

"Mmm~ Is that all~?" The mage looked at them with a smug, he smiled and pointed at them

"You call yourselves soldiers of Camelot and this is the best you can do~? My~ you are all a laughing stock~" The mage kept laughing and taunting the three.

Lance gritted his teeth, among the three he's the one with the highest pride so of course he's frustrated.

" We're not escaping after all, let's beat this guy up." Lance said. Again, putting up his sword, it has a mejestic shine onto it, as expected of a noble sword.

"Let's just find his weakness, we can't go near him because of that explosion, and we can't just attack his barrier, we'll lose our energy fast if we do that." Kit explained. He's been focused on the battle, finding out a weakness but he can't find anything. The only thing he can think is escape.

"You done making your plans~? Well then, let's see if who wins shall we~?" The mage conjured his fireballs again as if that's the only attacking spell he knows.

"We're only approaching stalemate, let's go!" Lance shouted, he dashed towards the mage, dodging the fireball again. Kit followef through and Grant also.

A smug appeared on the mage's face, a sudden flow of mana appeared, It's the explosion.

"Die!!" With the explosion, the area around him exploded again, but something cut him.

He saw his chest bleeding, he looked around and saw a young man looking at him angrily.

It was Kit. While the mage exploded, Kit embraced the explosion and sliced through his opponent.

Kit felt his body falling, [HP reached 0.]

"M-me? T-The great Leo, will die like this..." The mage fell down on the ground, he was lifeless as he hit the soil.

But he didn't pay much attention, he stood up and talked with Lance and Grant.

They found something on the mage's body, an insigna which is the same as what they found on the thieves they've caught back in Camelot.

"This is the same as we got from the previous thieves." Kit said while scanning the insigna.

A sudden chill went down their spines as they looked at the cave they saw earlier, it wasn't like someone was watching them, it's like something ominous is inside.

"Let's go see it." Lance said, the two didn't hesitate to follow, they reached the outside of the cave and didn't see anything inside because it was pitched black.

"Well done reaching it here." A voice said

A chill went down their spines again, and suddenly a tall man came out.

He's wearing a tribal-like clothes. And his upper body can be seen. A big scar on his chest. A tail from behind and ears that looks like from a tiger.

" A beast-men..." Kit suddenly said.
